My thoughts on NBA midseason:

They still play professional basketball?

Snore.

The Celtics aren't contending for anything without wholesale changes. They've blown 11 double-digit leads since Christmas. That seems impossible. I wouldn't mind seeing both Ray and Rasheed go, though I doubt anybody other than Charlotte would take Sheed. You're wrong about Rondo's jumper though, it's gotten much better this season, and this is from someone who was skeptical if it would ever improve.

Rondo is shooting 25% from the 3 pt line this year which is WORSE than the 26% he has shot for his career. You do have a point in the sense that he has a more consistent midrange game. He can now hit a 15 ft jump shot...sometimes. He still can't hit a wide open three.

I guess you could get something for Ray Allen's expiring contract. What though?

I dont make that trade. Hienrich for Allen? Will that make them better?

The Celtics have always like Kirk's style of play...The contract situation is perfect for the Bulls, but do the Celtics want the remainder of a $17 million/year contract with at least 2 years left on it

randallscott35 02-12-2010 08:29 AM

My thought is that basketball hasn't been watchable since the early 90's.

That I agree with..

I'm probably the only person too who isn't a fan of the 3 point line.

The contract alone doesnt work though. The bulls would have to throw more in and the celtics would want more talent. Hinrich alone isnt going to make the celtics better. Tyrus Thomas AND hinrich has been rumored along with a filler for Allen and that trade might make sense.

The one that makes more sense for Boston would be Nocioni and Kevin Martin for Allen. Both of those guys could give significant contributions and Sac wants to get rid of their contracts.

He's only taken 47 threes, so that percentage is pretty much meaningless, and he's 9-for-22 in the last two months from three (4-for-6 in February) after starting 3-for-25. I'd say that's considerable improvement. His midrange jumper is actually a legitimate threat now too, he hits that shot a lot more often than sometimes. Rondo's biggest problem continues to be free throws.

Rumors have linked Hinrich/Thomas, Monta Ellis and Kevin Martin to the Celts for Allen.

Yeah he'll sign with the Nets due to his bromance with Wall.

Would this count as "something"?

:$: MAKE IT HAPPEN DANNY. This is the only way the Celtics could beat Cleveland this year. Maybe Washington is just jacking up the price for Jamison from the Cavs though. Seems too good to be true.

That would be a hell of a trade for both teams. Maybe Boston gives up a couple of draft picks as well.

The C's brass gotta let Ainge pull the trigger on that deal.

dalakhani 02-12-2010 10:42 PM

Looks like Boston might be a little late.

Miami has a bunch of money. They have no bad contracts and Riley is running the show. They could pick up a bunch of role players to go with beasley, wade and bosh.

In chicago, you named a bunch of players that need the ball. You would have serious chemistry issues. Im not buying chicago.

NY cant take both salaries. pay those two stiffs and fill out the roster. The cap is going down and that would leave them with like 5 million for 9 guys to fill out the roster. Good luck with that.

Your take on Chicagos players is silly.
