1989 was my first year at Hialeah. I'd have waxed the floors I was so happy to be there. Great memories!

I think he said "the speed of Ruffian" ... Azeri didn't have the speed of Ruffian.

The class of Lady's Secret and heart of Personal Ensign are at least somewhat worthy of debate.

It wasn't comparing one great horse with three greats from the past .. it was saying Azeri is equal to those 3 great horses at their best aspect.

I know claimers that have the speed of Zenyatta, the class of Mine That Bird, and the heart of Dynever ... and those horses account for wins in the '09 Breeders Cup Classic, '09 Kentucky Derby, and the title of BTW's favorite horse of the past decade.

Dynever was the finest thoroughbred to ever look through a bridle.....and you know it.

Looks like an upward career trajectory. One day he may be calling the NYRA races.
