I am in no way implying it's a great movie, I just enjoyed the scenery. |

ray liotta rolls over in goodfella's because he gets busted. and it's just the last 1/4 of the film where that happens. the plotline in infernal affairs/the departed would be derivative if goodfellas started there and also included a mafia mole on the narcotics squad. i don't see the similarities other than they're both mafia movies. |

Been wanting to contribute to this.. I won't call my list the '15 Best' of the decade, but will say they were 15, (11 features plus 4 documentaries -- which is probably my favorite film form), that I enjoyed a great deal and believe were among the best of the last 10 years..

I seldom go to the movies
Roger Dean is thinking about suing Avatar for ripping him off. Heck who didn't they rip off? The only thing good about the movie was the special effects. The message was enough to make you walk out.

My top ten since 2000:
10) Being John Malkovich 9) The Squid and the Whale 8) Mystic River 7) Match Point 6) Sideways 5) Adaptation 4) Little Children 3) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 2) Before Sunset 1) The Diving Bell and the Butterfly I never really thought about it before, but I guess Charlie Kaufman really is responsible (at least partially) for three of my ten favorite movies in the last decade. |

My top five most overrated movies of the decade:
5) Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (A good movie, but I'm still not sure how this movie won tons of awards despite being the worst offering in the trilogy). 4) Gladiator (Ummm.....okay....what is supposed to be good about this movie?) 3) Michael Clayton (Above average movie that somehow garnered more critical acclaim and box office attendance than it deserved). 2) Avatar (Visually amazing, and it is worth seeing for that, but the script reads like somebody told Cameron to take all of the worst elements of Dances with Wolves and The Matrix and combine them into one movie). 1) Moulin Rouge (One of the worst movies of the decade and yet it somehow made a bunch of money and won a lot of awards. Insane.) |

The overrated list should include any George Clooney movie after 2000 (especially Michael Clayton) and anything from Jim Carrey after 2001.
Here's my 10 best: 10 Almost Famous 9 Juno (my wife's favorite) 8 Catch Me If you Can 7 Little Children (loved Kelly Leak in that one) 6 The Last King of Scotland (Garlick was great) 5 Blood Diamond 4 Unbreakable 3 Thank You For Smoking 2 Inside Man 1 Slumdog Millionaire |
