Icon Project retired with tendon injury

MIAMI - Icon Project, who moved to the upper echelon of the filly and mare handicap division following her one-sided victory in Saratoga's Grade 1 Personal Ensign, has been retired due to a tendon injury, trainer Marty Wolfson confirmed on Friday.

"She's had a small lesion in her tendon since running over a muddy racetrack winning the New York Handicap earlier this year," Wolfson said. "But the area really changed significantly since she returned here and worked a couple of times following her victory in the Personal Ensign."

Wolfson said Icon Project will be bred next season to Giant's Causeway.

Bred to the GIANT.........OMG...FUTURE KENTUCKY DERBY WINNER. You have class,speed,power,stamina and everything else you could ever want on both sides.

When has Giant's Causeway even come close to siring a Derby winner? He gets some decent turf horses but he really hasn't done much as a dirt sire.

Actually I was not going to bother responding, BUT.

According to many around here First Samurai was REALLY SERIOUS, he was mismanaged and had serious injuries. Im not sure and Im to lazy to look it up, but whos the best mare the Giant has had so far. I highly doubt shes better OVERALL then Icon Project... I truly belive Icon was a FREAKSHOW...She was competitive at 1 1/2 on turf, never that great on turf, just decent... Her 3 dirt races were REALLY REALLY STRONG, and her one LOSS on dirt has been VALIDATED.

So Giants Causeway doesnt get good mares?
