I thought it was between Maple and Solis actually. I was concerned that Romero was getting votes for all the accidents and crap he did to himself over the years. I'd read articles in support of Randy and they would devote 3/4ers of the article to all the bones he broke. I am glad Maple got in. I thought folks would have long forgotten him. But look up his name in wikopedia. Very impressive. Now Gomez I think is eligible. Then Johnnie V. Come to think of it we might get to Rudy Rodriguez soon, heck maybe even Maylan Studart might squeeze in there too. :zz:

The hall of fame is a seriously flawed HOF when compared to other sports. Whether SBD or Sky Beauty is better should be immaterial. They should be compared to the hall of fame standard which both certainly exceed. The process which puts in jockeys that are still riding seems silly especially since virtually every NY or CA jockey eligible with any standing is elected. Not to mention the annual steeplechase elections. The real tests which will likely make induction to the HOF as a horse a virtual travesty is when the Barbaros and Smarty Jones' of the world are put in despite having inferior credentials to virtually everyone else elected in history.

The problem is simple- allowing only 2-3 horses in a year is ridiculous considering there's 30,000 possibilities a year, versus what, 20 new riders and 10 trainers a year that could potentially qualify for the HOF? Just open it up a little to the correct ratios of human to horseflesh and everything will even out.

It will never be a serious hall of fame until they start inducting tvg analysts.
