1) Claiming Crown, because I can see it live at Canterbury, great betting opportunities and because horses come from many different tracks.

2) Breeder's Cup Saturday. See the last two reasons above.

3) MN festival of racing day, because this is the day the owners, tainers and jockey REALLY want to win. I also like betting on other tracks state bred championship days.

4) The first day I attend live racing every year.

5) Kentucky Derby, ranked this low because it's only one race, ranked this high because it's one IMPORTANT race.

6) Breeder's Cup Friday.

1 Derby Day
2 Breeders Cup (Sat)
3 Breeeders Cup (Fri.) It's always more fun when you should be at work!
4 Any DT start (especially those at Arlington, because that Chicago crew is a fun bunch)
5 Preakness Day

SCUDSBROTHER 03-25-2009 05:42 PM

The day T Baze retires.

Was it the 9 horse that won? That'd make for an even better story.

Two days I've always enjoyed that fly under the radar are the opening weekends of Keeneland each fall and spring. There are usually a number of great races all across the country, especially in the spring with the 3YO preps and the Ashland.

Memorial Day, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend are pretty good, as is Thanksgiving weekend, even though there's a feeling the end of good racing is at hand.

Did Spitzer tell you what trophy he was getting that night?

Opening Day at Belmont in the Spring.

Six months of great racing, and good weather, to come.

What he said, but I think I'd have to put the Belmont Stakes day at number 3 and also would put President's Day (Southwest Stakes, et al)on my list.
