Then all those catalogs with sire and dam info meaningless. They should just publish the race record and horses that competed against said sire and dam. Pedigreequery be damned.

People should take their mares to stallions worth $500, instead of ones worth $300,000, because it obviously means nothing in terms of performance.

They thought so much of Rail Trip's potential as a stallion with his breeding.........that they gelded him. Enough said.

How many top racing females become top producers? How does that compare with how many unraced or very lightly raced and unaccomplished ones do the same thing?

I think of breeding as an indicator of what you MIGHT expect when a horse is trying something for the first time. After they are on the track and show what they can or can't do, I throw breeding out of the window.

You'd think that after watching an Elusive Quality and Tale of the Cat go 1-2 in the Derby, people would realize things have changed.

I bet if there was a debuting son of King Glorious that's a half to Lammtarra, KG here would be the first person at the windows that day to bet it.

That's a bet you'd lose. Big.

Guess the Paulson's are lying about Azeri and no one really bid on her? Or they know her racing record means nothing and don't want to rip anyone off. Yea that's it. Want to buy some unacomplished mares? Certainly you're not opposed to IL breds they some of the most unacomplished.

What if it was the three? You'd miss your 3-6-9 Goose Drank Wine bet.

How much they want for her or how much they have been offered for her are totally irrelevant to how successful she'll end up being. I never said that top racemares aren't valuable. I said it's rare that they end up being top producers. Azeri could end up being like Miesque or Personal Ensign. Or should could end up producing nothing of note like the vast majority of top runners do.

Probable for the 71st San Carlos, for older horses at seven furlongs: Devoted Magic, Joel Rosario; Georgie Boy, Gomez; Halo Najib, Rafael Bejarano; and possibly Rail Trip, Jose Valdivia Jr.; Dodgen Bullets and Screen to Screen.

Rail Trip worked five furlongs on Pro-Ride Sunday in a bullet :59 seconds with Valdivia up, but trainer Ron Ellis and co-owner Samantha Siegel were non-committal on whether the gelding would run in the San Carlos or point to the Santa Anita Handicap on March 7.

Of the two bold predictions KG made that week, it was the better of the two. The other?

Hard to knock a horse who's never finished worse than 2nd and has a G1 in the resume

my miss storm cat 07-11-2009 08:38 PM

I first started following racing in the Smarty era.

I've learned a lot from different people, a few of them here, but back in those days? The person who taught me THE (wow I feel like TFM doing that :D ) most was King. I didn't know anything about anything and he'd explain stuff in his long winded way. :D

He did explain things though, to a silly new fan on an internet forum when he didn't have to waste his time... he always went out of his way for me and others who showed enthusiasm and who wanted to understand the game better.

Sometimes i want to smack him, sometimes he's dead on but for the record just wanna say that i was honestly asking him for his opinion here and wasn't bumping this up for any other reason.

He's continually pointed out to me I'm far too sentimental but he knows I think he gives up on some runners too easily.Ultimately, as friends, we end up balancing each other out.

As far as the Stardom Bound line... I probably made a similar prediction somewhere...:wf

I know I've made worse ones anyway...

Beautiful win by Rail Trip today. Like him, didn't think he'd do it here... congrats to anyone who had him.

Bobby Fischer 07-11-2009 09:11 PM

he outran my expectations of him today.

It was a horrid Gold Cup. Rail Trip got an easy lead trip while clear of the runaway false pace. However, he made it through the distance.

When i first saw Rail Trip my opinion was that it was a horse Valdivia had been getting on in the morning, conditioning it to certain things, good speed, but he'd probably quit against any kind of pace or distance.

good for him. Now he's on the vulture list

Who would possibly have him?

Wasn't there a board consensus that he was a MILER?

Don't tell me someone is rocking the boat.

Jesus, don't have an aneurysm!

I applaud the people who post picks every day. Some though, some just don't and they're not gonna come on here and redboard.

Just saying congrats to anyone if they did have him.

Relax.

Ummm, okay nevermind, sorry if I was wrong.

Sometimes I read your posts and wonder if maybe someone needs a XANAX but it's probably just me. :wf
