The QBs in the Big Ten suck,
are in the dark ages, and they don't

I don't pay any attention to the NFL,
and I don't know who the starting QBs
are, but 4 of the top 30 in the NFL in
passing are from the Big Ten. The only
conferences with more are the Pac 10 and
SEC with 5 each. Know how many are from
your beloved Big 12?

Was that your daughter in the picture, Phil?

Does she have a better sports opinion than
you, Phil?

On the whole they are very bad NOW.
They got a huge number of states to pull from
and they used to get many of the best HS QB's.
Purdue pulled Drew Brees right out from
Texas schools because they had no passing attacks.

When was the last time a Big 10 QB was taken
round one?

What has happened?
A shift has occurred.

How do they have more states to pull from than any other conference?

The last Big Ten QB I remember getting taken in the first round was Kerry Collins in 95. Why does it matter? In a lot of years, only 1 or 2 QBs are taken in the first round? How many has the Big 12 had in that time? I can't think of one other than Vince Young.

Yes, the Big Ten QBs aren't great this year. Don't you think it's somewhat cyclical? All those QB "stars" in the Big 12 have been starting for 2+ years and play in spread offenses geared towards passing. What is the point?

It may very well be cyclical.
So what has happened?

Take a look at the Big 12 rosters of the top teams.
The best players on the teams are from Texas.
Half of the Oklahoma team is Texas.

Oklahoma
OK. St.
Texas Tech
Texas
Texas ATM
Baylor

The entire Big 12 south is Texas.
Missouri, Neb, Kansas, Top players Texas.

Ohio St. is supposed to own Ohio... right?
And they pull Pryor from Penn. and snack on Michigan players.
How does Ohio ST. not win the National Championship every year with all the good HS players in Ohio?

Do other States snag all those good HS players from Cinc. and Clev.?
I have heard they have the best HS football teams in the country.
Just wondering....

Mortimer 11-02-2008 07:08 PM

Phil attacks the BT and their qbs.

He gets disassembled over it .

SSSSSSSSSSSSSO...he ignores that and then goes to Ohio States inability to nab the top Ohio players....even though they do it year in and year out.

This is why he will not do encores.

So they do get the top players in the country and fail?

Now we get the top in the country?

I thought we were on Ohio in state recruiting.

Texas has outranked Ohio in recruiting almost every year....so why do they fail even more?

Phil, what the hell are you talking about?

Yes, other teams get players from Ohio. It's not the 1980s anymore. All the teams are on TV. The number of scholarships is limited. The talent gets more spread out. What's your point?

Ohio State gets the majority of the best players from Ohio, but Michigan and Penn State get some too. Penn State gets a lot of the best players from Pennsylvania. Michigan and Ohio State get some too. What's the point? Ohio State has been one of the best teams in the country for the past seven years. What is your point?

Are you trying to tell me the Big Ten benefits from having schools in multiple states, like Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin, which produce little to no good players? What is your point?

2-7, Morte. I am officially mad at dem beans.

pgardn 11-02-2008 07:18 PM

Ok fellas.
Listen closely.

I heard/read that Cinn. and Clev. had the best HS talent in the country...
Year to year... factories so to speak.
Lets just cut it down to that since it is difficult to keep up with rest.
Is this wrong?

Or do they choose hockey instead?

Hey--I am,too. You know what I've said. I know what you mean about giving a guy a chance...and they'll have to given how much money they have sunk into him...but honest, did you expect this bad??

Phil, here's the breakdown of NFL players by where they played high school football. California, Texas, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania all have great high school football. I don't know how you'd determine the best. What's the point?

California: 198
Texas: 173
Florida: 169
Georgia: 84
Ohio: 65
Pennsylvania: 65
Louisiana: 62
Virginia: 56
North Carolina: 53
South Carolina: 49
Mississippi: 47
