I got home by car, obviously. After today, they don't want me in a car for a month. The risk of the disk herniating again is too great.

Did they tie you to the roof rack?

Tell him I said thanks. He can also do better than me too.

The only bit of pain I have is where there performed the actual surgery and where the incision is, but even that is feeling better than yesterday. I was up and walking a bit last night and this morning as well. I am surprisingly moving very well.

My surgeon said the procedure went very well. He went in, removed the parts of the L4-L5 disk that had broken apart and were surrounding both sides of my spine and leaning up against a nerve on my spine. That was what was causing all the pain in my legs. I noticed IMMEDIATE relief in my legs when I awoke from the surgery yesterday. This is the first time in 18 months that I have been able to experience a day without any pain in my legs.

I have to take it very easy for the next 4 weeks. The only thing I can really do is get up and walk around, increasing the amount everyday. I can't bend, shift or lift anything heavier than a carton of milk. I can't ride in a car for a month either (NO OTB?!?!?! :( :( ) I guess that just means I will have to be on Derby Trail all day, everyday for the next 4 weeks...lucky ya'll.

Thanks so much to everyone for ya'lls thoughts and prayers. They mean the world to me and it also means a great deal to have wonderful friends like everyone on here.

Much love,
GPK

Kev, I'm very happy to hear that the operation was a success and you are doing well. That is great news!

Thank you very much...its great news indeed. Everyone is entitled to a pain free life.

Glad you're home and mending well. Advice? Take two Vicodins and bang the early double at the Mount. The horse at Calder I passed along to you a couple weeks ago ... Layton ... ran bavk Sunday.... $58 to win. The answer to your first question.... "Not a dime." Answer to second question.... "I am indeed as stupid as I look."

OUCH...and that response is not talking about my pain...but yours.

still waiting on the doctor to call in my Vicidon, but until then, this Duragesic patch of Fentanoyl will keep me sky high for about 48-72 hours starting sometime tonight:D :D

You got the patch? No wonder you feel good. Synthetic morphine will do the trick. Get well.

Good stuff, when used properly. Too many people abusing it though.

Hey Kev, What did you think about Corey Pavin winning over the weekend? I was really happy for him because I've been a fan of his for well over 20 years, dating back to when he was playing at UCLA.

Raysva 08-02-2006 01:26 AM

Glad to see and here all went well! Ill do the OTB thing for you , while at Chesepeake anyone to say hello to?

my miss storm cat 08-02-2006 01:43 AM

Hey Rupert, I was VERY glad to see Corey win again..been a long time coming. Always good when an old school guy that knows how to shape the ball and work his way around a golf course win, instead of just standing on the tee...hit the ball as far as you can, wegde on it, etc...

Been a fan of his for years. I think I liked him better in the old days when he looked like the guy from Hall and Oats...LMFAO:D :D

Are any of the regulars still working the bar? Tall, skinny girl, Michelle. Short girl Tammy. If they are still there, tell them Kevin said hello. It will be a while before I can make my way to an OTB, but when I can, we will get together.
