1963 my mother took me to Randle Park in Cleveland Ohio. I was eight and bet $2 to show. I lost and I've been chasing that damn $2 ever since.

And yes, I am old and you are not.

Cant remember my first winner but first signer was a tri exacta at FG with Janies Pepper the key horse that made the ex and tri both signers. Was the first meet after the latest fire. I think it was the 70s.

my first

A horse named British Bail at Ellis Park - my mom and i bet $ 2 each 'cause we liked the name, neither of us knew how to even read the odds board back then and were surprised when we went to the window and got back over $ 50! Winning that $ 50 has cost me thousands over the years! LOL

I cant remember my last winner

I don't remember the horse, but I know it was an Odie Clelland first time starter. I was in the booth with Dick Wooley at the time. I think it was at Bowie, though Laurel is possible.

It also may be the last winner I have bet...

Oak Tree at Santa Anita 1970, a 3yo called Magic Hope II. Had been a group winner in France earlier in the year and at 2 had run second to Sassafras, who had just beaten Nijinsky by a head in the Arc. Imported to run in the Del Mar Derby, where he was 5th or so, he was in against allowance company. Didn't have the guts for a win bet, but I cashed.

P.S. One had to be 18 to bet, which I was, just, as a freshman from 'trackless' Minnesota (no Canterbury yet), first time in the Southland. So I think I am just a touch older than the previous guys.
