Wow, This looks like a 1 inch putt.

SniperSB23 02-28-2008 12:55 PM

2:00.60

Only Dubai Millenium and Invasor have broke the 2 minute barrier there. With how easily he went I was expecting something like 2:04 or 2:05.

I think it's a fair guess, considering how small the margin of victory was, that the track was very fast.

It must be playing fast this year. Familiar Territory ran a 2:00 2/5 two weeks ago.

If that 2 flat's correct... he could have easily broken 2 minutes with a little encouragement from Robby. He didn't need it today, but may in the World Cup, as he'll be running against alot better horses.

Replay - very impressive

Must be pretty fast. A 3yo filly just won the Oaks in 1:49.09.

Quick track

"We wanted to save a bunch for the World Cup," Albarado said in a post-race interview. "I just wanted him to settle. He needed this race mentally as well as physically, and I think we accomplished what we wanted to today."

Hickory Hill Hoff 02-28-2008 01:26 PM

Won easier than War Pass last Sunday.

Robby is like a tape recorder with his post race analysis.

Hopefully he doesnt fall asleep on Curlin in the big race like hes been known to do

No he didn't.

But, he faced much better competition.

Very often it's easy to read something, too much, etc., into a race like this. You go back and forth. He did what he was expected and had to do -- I would think. I have no idea what they were looking for.

About the effort, urging, etc. -- what was this his 9th or 10th lifetime start? Who knows, he might be shaking off the rust, or needs encouragement. Nice race. I enjoyed it.

as noted there was some confusion. FT was listed as 9.40 which was his win price, and JEt Express whos win price was actually "89.80" which further confuses the matter.

Maybe Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid gave out a bonus , but more likely they just messed up the posted results.

Amazingly i didn't have a place bet on Jet Express :D so i couldn't tell you, but i would have guessed between 5 nd 15 dollars for JE. I took 20% on Curlin and had no complaints.

Bobby Fischer 02-28-2008 02:08 PM

i went in 50 cent a piece with four buddies. 2.40 = 60cents each =+10cents:D

With him getting ready to race in the Dubai World Cup, I would have hoped that Robby wouldn't have asked him if he didn't have to carrying that much weight for that far of a distance off a significant layoff. I really didn't like the move as I thought it would have been too much for the horse to do before the DWC, but we're not talking about a typical GI horse here.

In 10 years from now, this horse will be considered one of the greatest ever to step foot on the track. Enjoy him.
