War Monger dropped a nuclear bomb on that field.

pgardn 01-26-2008 04:37 PM

Someone needs to apologize to kent d.
He kept the horse out of trouble with a nifty little move so he would not get trapped on the rail.

MaTH716 01-26-2008 04:37 PM

I think that Rene Douglass grabbed a hot dog in the stretch, that's how wide he was!

War Monger is for real. Soldier's Dancer is a nice horse.

I'll watch the race again but I think you need to be careful about equating these two horses.

I doubt that. War Monger didn't exactly have a dream trip. Checked slightly on the backstretch.

Persecution complex?

It doesn't suit you.

Let me watch the race again. War Monger had a sweet trip....no doubt.

I've been following SD since last year. He teases, he makes IMPRESSIVE runs, YET, he never gets it done. In that stake down at CNL (that Red Giant won), for example, he had a clear inside run and HUNG like a dog.
I'm not doubting that he has ability but he's not running up to it, for whatever reason.

This is a case where experience/intuition needs to transcend the trip. They could rerun this race any number of times and WM still beats him and buries the field.

tiggerv 01-26-2008 04:52 PM

I got this chalky taste in my mouth

Nope.
He easily could have gotten trapped.
I dont think you can make this statement
about a turf race like this.

Thank Kent. Watch the replay.

Why do I need to thank KENT, Bro? Do I need to thank him for his ride two back on the horse? He didn't do anything special. After running behind horses on the BS he realized that he had to get out. Isn't that obvious to anyone with a brain?
Or are we assume that all these jocks are idiots?

yes I guess we do.
they dont ride bikes enough.

Actually I kinda agree with you
about the idea though. I have always
thought they need to run a good 5K race
on their own so they understand.

There are any number of jocks that would sit
chilly on the rail and not make that move.
It was a good decision. But he did have a lot
of horse.

infield_line 01-26-2008 05:07 PM

Calling Dr. Phil....

all I know is that I normally look forward to betting Kent/Mott on turf, but on stakes days I look for any rationale to chase a price.... memo to self, the bigger the days, the more collective wisdom setting prices... market more efficent.

I/L

blackthroatedwind 01-26-2008 05:08 PM

I pretty much agree with the Fat Man. However, Soldier's Dancer did run very well. He had a dream trip until they came for home and that horse took him out of the race. He was very impressive to recover from that.

He's a war horse. He dances the dances and runs well most of the time. However, he's not as good as War Monger. I can understand the argument that in an isolated situation he ran a better race than War Monger did today. However, and maybe I'm wrong, I feel like all things being equal War Monger would beat him 4 out of 5 times.

Now, if they swapped trainers......

Let me reiterate something I told some others.....when you quote him it defeats my purpose of having him on ignore.
