I believe that I haven't seen a 2yo this far ahead of his classmates going into the winter since Favorite Trick. I'm not saying he's the BEST 2yo since then but that the gap between him and #2 is as wide as I can remember since then. I think that 20/1 is a gift of a bet on him and if none of the big four three-year olds from this season comes back next year, I think War Pass is right now the favorite for the BC Classic next year.

Wasn't it Day Pass who they took to the desert this past spring?

Why won't they learn?

Day Pass and one other whose name escapes me right now. Minefield? Something like that.

I wouldn't take 20-1 on War Pass to make the gate, let alone win.

You would be foolish not to take 20-1 on that. How many of the BC Juvenile winners haven't made the Derby starting gate? It is nowhere near 19 out of 20.

King Glorious 11-02-2007 03:34 PM

14 of the Juvenile winners have made it to the BC. Nine have missed it.

This year we took Paint, Cave's Valley and Wicked Style (all at 125-1 or higher). It's pointless to take anything shorter than 75-1 at this point.

And speaking of 2-yos, did anyone see the Empire Maker baby debut for Frankel on Sunday at Churchill Downs? Turn Away was his name I think, and he looked great.

Lemon, Turn Away is a filly and she did make an auspicious debut for Frankel.

I like Cave's Valley at this point in time...do any of the CT Casinos offer any futures?

it would be fitting if he had a stablemate named General Burkhalter

Bobby Fischer 11-02-2007 09:47 PM

we haven't seen anything yet, but Paint and Old Man Buck are probably the early leaders.

I feel badly that Phil had to inherit this crazy name...Would have consulted Phil if I had known!
