Indy so you won't see her racing for much longer before she retires to be bred...I say at the end of this season regardless of what happens....

Indian Vale's Shuvee flop was a shocker, but Todd must have found something because I don't believe she's worked since then. I wonder if she'll come back at all. That race was too bad to believed.........If she's ok, she's very talented. It would be a shame if she couldn't race again.

It says bold predictions doesn't it? Watch out for that horse at 6F. I guess saying Pletcher will win a BC race is really bold.

I don't look for accomplishments so to speak, I try to forecast potential, and I've always thought based on his pedigree and brilliance and class as a juvenile that he'd prove to be a top class sprinter at three and as an older horse....Great sprinters are possessed with an uncanny high-cruising speed and he has it....he can effortlessly carve out a 45 second half with the jockey sitting on him like a statue...this quality is huge because he can place himself in any race in the world without exhausting himself early....that is rare....additionally, he still has a pretty good push button off of that and he showed that he is a fighter when stretching out in last year's BC Juvy to be a game second when I know 1 1/16-miles is not close to his best distance being a Hennessy out of a Meadowlake mare....that was pure class and heart that carried him that far IMO....Additionally, if you examine his stride it is simply peotic...to have that quick a turn of foot, ge looks like he does it so effortlessly and his stride is so efficient he looks like he is one of those horses that won't have to carry his track with him because his biomechanics are as good as it gets in a horses stride that he should take to any track as good as any other horse he races against.......I love this colt, and I agree that physically he is superior looking now to waht he used to look like.....Sometimes you just can tell the goods when you watch them run and he is the goods....

Man when he switched leads and took off it was something to behold. I haven't seen a burst like that in a long time.

I know, I know...but I was at the 2004 BC and the Coolmore Danzig colt shouldv'e won but he was Spencerized in the stretch...actually I think the horse was just a rogue.....Also, anybody who knows the Lone Star course knows that it is the exact opposite from European courses....I've walked it before and it is like a putting green.....I wouldn't count that year for a true result....

As for Artie, I bet him last year because he loves BEL and looked to break through off of some tough-luck races, AND most importantly, there was a poor contingent of Euros unlike most years.....If the Euros bring their first string or even good second string they will win the Mile nine eight out of ten years IMO....Something will come over that is more formidable than Gorella IMO....

I personally think the sprint division will be the most exciting this summer/fall. TMB, LITF, HH...I might give the edge to TMB for the BCS.

Now that I've used up my daily allocation of acronyms, it's back to my thesis. 10,000 words due by tomorrow...gaaah.

Lava Man will lose his best friend when he has to travel away from the West Coast just like he did last year.....nice horse though....

I doubt he runs 6F anymore anyway (the guy's pretty clever).

He will be a very good horse going 7F to a mile. Should be @ his best (for money earned purposes) going two turns up to 9F.

Only one or two sprinters a year make any serious money.

Now that is bold....you won't be able to van Henny Hughes 9 furlongs....write that down right now..

Pointg5 07-04-2006 10:04 AM

I predict Minister's Bid will win the Travers, I have been a big fan of his since his debut and boldruler, I remember you saying everyone knew about this horse: How did he go off at 10-1 in his debut, if everyone knew about him?

my miss storm cat 07-04-2006 11:00 AM

With the exception of Bullish Luck (and I say that only because who knows what will happen with SW and Vengeance of Rain - although he's doing nicely in his recovery), there will be a changing of the guard at the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong races at Sha Tin this year..... out with the old, in with the new. No surprise with Super Kid retired, Best Gift and Russian Pearl (still) injured.

Their names are Armada and Bulldozer.

Armada... worked his way up quickly gaining those precious HK points. Unbeated and in the final Sha Tin race of the season (the Sha Tin Mile Trophy) defeated All's Well to take the Most improved Horse Award (he deserved it). Size trains..... undefeated (6 out of 6).

Bulldozer..... a little different but worked his way up from Class 4 to Class 2 (3 wins, 1 place out of 7 starts). Trained by Yip..... he fights and fights and shows heart every time. Lovely horse and imagine the headlines! Bulldozer Crushes the Field.

Danzig 07-04-2006 12:03 PM

hmm..bold predictions.

bushfire wins the distaff, and top filly honors.
lava man wins the bcc and HOY.
deep impact schools the field in the arc.
cacique win the bc turf, ouija board second. hasili (dam of cacique, banks hill, intercontinental) wins broodmare of the year.
lost in the fog wins the sprint by a head bob.
gorella gets her mile win over the boys.
the jacksons get breeder of the year for barbaro and george washington.

Downthestretch55 07-04-2006 12:18 PM

Bold prediction??
OK....
Corinthian defeats Ministers Bid in the final strides of the Travers.
DTS

irishtrekker 07-04-2006 12:30 PM

DTS, I'm with ya!! Is Corinthian actually coming back for that? Man, I can't wait to see him run. I hope he's still in good form.

packerbacker7964 07-04-2006 12:33 PM

I will get drunk at the Track today and throw lots of tickets on the ground.

Downthestretch55 07-04-2006 12:36 PM

Irish,
I would love to see that happen. I'll keep my "ears" out for any news from Jim Jerken's barn and let you know.
This would certainly be a triumph for both Jim J and Corinthian after a big disappointment.
He won't run him if he's the least bit suspect.
The Mid Summer Derby is what he was aiming for.
Stay tuned.

Not too bold with several of these predictions....the Jacksons will get breeder of the year just off of that feet alone...
