Wonder how many will read beyond your headline to understand that this is not in fact a New Democratic Canidate for president of the United States but some moron running in a Canadian election. Im sure that wasnt your intent.

If the video still plays (it's been taken down and then put back up), it's worth the view. Talk about a story with no protagonists. Other than maybe the poor cop having to listen to the would-be Christopher Columbus there.

If the reader can't be troubled to click on the link (or even mouse over the cursor) to see that it's about Canadian poly ticks, that's somehow on me?

This is the second time (first was in high school English class) that it's been suggested to me that I should write down to my audience. I'll keep it in mind going forward.

More likely, your high school English teacher would have criticized you for writing a poor summary of the article, omitting the most important bit of information- which nation.

In today's intertoobs, you'd be accused of trying to create click bait.

Also, see: "bury the lede."

Ben Carson: Evolution Is Satanic and the Big Bang Is a Fairy Tale

In 2012, in a speech at an event called “Celebration of Creation,” he said that Darwin came up with evolutionary theory because the devil made him do it.

I mean that literally. He said, “I personally believe that this theory that Darwin came up with was something that was encouraged by the adversary.” The Adversary is a nickname for the devil; it’s the actual translation of the word “Satan.” So there’s that.

so...were carson to meet the pope, i wonder how that convo would go regarding evolution? probably would be quite interesting.
and he's a great example of how some people want our schools to teach 'science' instead of science.

the earth is not young, creationism isn't science, evolution explains the diversity of life rather than its creation, and carson is full of ish.

Yeah, because these are informative, descriptive posts which give the reader a clear picture of what the article linked is about, conveying to the reader whether he/she would want to click on said link

At least the "well informed" are now familiar with the New Democratic Party.

The Huffington Post Canada found Johnstone participated in board meetings where prizes were awarded to teachers for "excellence in Holocaust Education."

Prior to earning a master of social work degree from McMaster University — where her thesis dealt with race, class, and gender dynamics — Johnstone spent two years studying social justice and peace studies at Western University's Kings College.

According to the King's website, that program "encourages critical reflection on oppression and injustice, locally and globally."

Well, the great state of New York has no problem putting people on horse racing oversight committees who know exactly nothing about the sport, so why do we expect more from Canada? At least all she could do on the board was hand out awards. ;)

For that matter, we're letting billionaires who have never spent a second of their lives teaching in a classroom dictate to us how to fix education.

Which is not to say that I don't have some pretty funny bad teacher anecdotes. When I was working in education at a conservation facility, one of the guys I supervised had to gently tell a third grade teacher that no, crocodiles are not mammals. She argued it with him, too.

oh christ.

my daughters sixth grade teacher would turn to kelly for pronunciations of words...

and it's funny how your brain will hold onto stuff that you don't know is lurking in there, til something pops it out.

a year or two ago, tony and i were watching something about the american revolution era. and up it comes with 'philadelphia harbor'.
i jumped up and yelled 'i knew it!' he's looking at me like i've gone daft.
i said no, see, in fourth grade the teacher had us all write a paper about a location in that era. she calls on me to read my report. i no sooner start reading about philadelphia harbor when she stops me, tells me i'm making it all up, go sit down, you're getting a zero. i was crushed-but you dared not argue with the teacher and they know everything right?
oh, i wish i could find ol ms truax and give her a piece of my mind.

Your fourth grade teacher and my elementary school's mean, awful music teacher should have hung out together.

Now, if that teacher I mentioned before had said that "humans are reptiles" she'd have technically been correct, according to the phylogenetic system of classification:
