Hey, I'm not saying I won't be there next year at CD, but there's no denying that it's more likely to be cold there than at Santa Anita.

If there was no such thing as dirt racing in America, I might hear this argument.

But also the BC is about recognizing stars and champions, and those stars and champions come from all over. Every racetrack in America contributes to the big picture of horse racing and therefore should have a chance to host the big event.

It's kind of like the US Open... they use a few of the same courses because they work so well, but when you venture outside the box and try a Bethpage Black, you can really hit a home run.

Oh I know, I'm just emphasizing the fact that weather being a determining factor in BC placement is overrated.

Is it mad crowded on Florida Derby Day or is the end of January (during Derby preps) a better time to go?

Having been to the Breeders Cups when they were at Woodbine, Arlington, Lone Star and Monmouth, I can't agree with this statement, especially if you are trying to be fan-friendly. (The big-wigs will always have good seating, etc.) The host track needs to have sufficient permanent seating and to be large enough to handle the likely crowds. Don't get me wrong, I thought the people at Arlington and Lone Star tried their best to do a good job, but when fans are told that they don't have access to the main building, that's a problem, especially if the weather does not cooperate.

For all the obvious reasons, you'd think that you want to have a warm-weather site host your championship event, especially since racing is "played outdoors." That's why the Super Bowl is usually in Florida, New Orleans or California. It's too bad that Stronach ruined Gulfstream; it used to be the best Breeders Cup venue.

yes too crowded on FL Derby. went there once for FL Derby since the "new" track was made and I left after about 5 minutes.

We have a fantastic time for the Donn weekend though.

Let me know when you are going to make the trip!

That Breeder's Cup will always hold a special wagering place in my heart.

Stevens and Bailey on $60+ horses. Not to mention the Chavez double of Beautiful Pleasure and Artax
