I would NOT buy anything from Storm Cat. I think he is by FAR the most overrated sire in the world . He is throwing off a lot of over priced horses that are not built to last and or go the distance. He was a great marketing ploy created by W.T. Young and Lukas. But that is just my opinion and I know I'll probably take some crap for it.

Sky Mesa was one of favs back in 2002/2003

I always get to thinking of Strom Thurmond the Senator and how his life and Storm Cat's have some parallels: males who lived (or are still living) a long time in luxury and have no problem landing lots of hot young ladies...

Once again, it depends on the dam... I'm not a fan of Storm Cat, either, but I'd take a Storm Cat foal with the right kind of female family.

Agreed... and IMO, he's a really nice horse by Storm Cat. There are only a few that I really like. I think Mariah's Storm obviously crossed well with Storm Cat, though...

Doesn't she have a yearling and a two year old by Storm Cat as well?

she's foaled eight times, seven are storm cats. wonder how old deputy minister sneaked in there?!
her last two are fillies. they will be worth their weight in gold.

Yes, they most certainly will be...

Can't wait to see them on the track.

Most are saying Giant's Causeway but I would take his full brother....who may that be....FREUD....I personally feel he is one of the best up and comming talents in the shed...I think he has only been in the shed for 2 or 3 years at the most and he seems to have a lot of decent offspring...the only downside is that he is very hit or miss so you have to find the right dam for him...

certainly a better value...his 'hit or miss' quality may be more a reflection of the quality of mare he's getting...and GC misses a lot too, but with the book of mares he gets compared to his brother it's less acceptable IMO

paisjpq 01-18-2007 06:25 AM

If money were truly no object and I had a nice mare I think I would ship her across the pond and have a go with Galileo.

You're 100% right.

Thunder Gulch 01-18-2007 09:52 AM

Have you guys seen the price on those Storm Cats? Not a big fan myself, but we're talking major Benjamins here.

Danzig 01-18-2007 09:59 AM

i thought freud might be a way to go, but then there's roar of the tiger....

To me, he looks more like Giant's Causeway and seems to resemble Mariah's Storm more. Freud looks more like Storm Cat. They're all good looking horses.

You know I really liked Freud, but when I saw him this fall I found him less attractive. Same thing about Read the Footnotes who I thought was too long. The pictures of foals by Freud though are soooooo adorable with all of the white he throws. Freud was reported as being 'very full of himself' LOL Oedipus O'Neal is a real hottie too, but he has disappeared since Saratoga season.

Do you have any info on the foal that came from the Xtra Heat/Storm Cat mating of a couple of years ago?

The only XH offspring I've seen hit the track is the spectacularly dismal Southwestern Heat--from her mating with Gone West.

I'm intrigued with Monarchos' get. And of course I like Maria's Mon, who had another date with Regal Band.

Danzig 01-18-2007 07:52 PM

storm cat colt just turned two. no name as yet, according to pedigree query.

Are you familiar with the Squires family? Jim's brother is part of a partnership where they have a couple of Monarchos' babies running... can't remember their names, but next time I see him, I'll ask.

txshorns02 01-18-2007 08:22 PM

How many foals does Silverbulletday have...I only saw one of hers and she was breed to AP Indy. I dont think the horse was very good...i think the foal was trying to break its maiden for the 9-10 times (i might be totally off)..I dont remember the foals name but it ran at Del Mar or Santa Anita prolly 1-3 months ago...

tice is by ap indy, has earned about 51k. then there's silverbulletway, unraced....couple others that aren't racing as yet by vindication.

Sightseek 01-18-2007 08:38 PM

Tice ran second this past weekend or the the weekend before at Santa Anita.

Yes I am. Got his book, too (Horse of A Different Color). If you see him, tell him hi...I'm Stone's friend that they all call from Saratoga.
