I have never been mad about a late scratch in my life, because if my horse can't even warm up not being lame, then he sure as hell wasn't gonna win.

By the way if someone is indeed saving Shake You Down, you have my utmost respect and well wishes.

95% of vet scratches are made at the barn in the AM and the public has no oppurunity to bet on them (although they appear on the program).

I'm kinda surprised at you here Mike. Thought you would know that.;)

I realize when they are made for teh most part.
But if you watch some of them warming up you can see how sore they are. I see it every day, and most are allowed to enter the gate.
Standing in a stall in the morning, even being jogged a little doesnt always reveal how sore they are. You watch em trying warm up on a given day and you can see the limpers at times who have no business being on teh track.

I claimed Kilmoray for $10,000. Ran him down to $3500 and then Allen bought him for $4500 (he didn't claim from me) and turned him out. I'm pretty sure he was 11. This is the only such story I know of after being involved with 100's of horses "hands on" one way or another.

Won 5 races with A Deck when he was about 8 years old. Baitman won stakes @ 8 and Bobby and I helped him back to the barn @ Monmouth when he finally went. Sent him back to his breeders for pension. Got a nice letter saying he was happy and liked peppermints. Never knew horses bothered with peppermints before that. Always thought sugar and carrots were just fine.

Anyone wants they can look up what Hirsch did with Joe Jones and Paper Tiger. There's a zillion others but I'm not going to waste my time.

This kind of garbage is the down side of these forums. Readers sometimes believe that the clowns with the most posts are NOT the most ignorant members when it comes to racing. In reality, more often than not, they are.

Note to Bethani:

Horse's that get by the vet DO NOT FLOUNDER. As a matter of fact these claimers will probably be within 2 - 3 seconds of stake horse going the same distance the same day. Take the colors off and I guarantee you not one of these morons that is now moaning would know if he was watching a stake horse or a $5000, 6 year old claimer.

I think it's important to save these posts that Dicksie will delete eventually. Imagine a man so full of self loathing that he criticizes anybody and everybody, in as nasty a manner as possible, only to delete these tantrums when, I assume, his medication gets changed. At least, Dicksie, you could be a real man and stand behind what you say....otherwise your rants can only be taken for what they so obviously are....the sad tantrums of a failure who sadly looks back on his useless life and hates to see others succeeding in all the ways he failed.

There's really no need for caps here. If you have the goods it's not necessary to blow your "cool".

Kinda wonder why this has to be "top secret". Time for a credibility check.

I doubt if it were to occur that it would have a deep seeded impact on the game.

oracle80 12-23-2006 09:54 AM

Dixie all you have to do is watch and see if hes scratched from his next start, and I believe 100% that something is being done.
There are a few retirement foundations and I'm sure they would act to give a millionaire like Shake a nice home.

No.. Just a deep-seeded impact on the life of Shake You Down.

And those that are involving themselves in this don't care for the attention it would generate.

And a lack of appreciation for a horse that put you on the map as an owner. You would think that maybe something inside of him would realize that whomever is trying to buy him, is doing it for the right reason, and maybe Cole would smarten up. I'll never understand it.

I wonder if MR Cole ever intended to race this horse in that spot, or if he hoped for jjust such a reaction by someone to give him a good hime without HIM having to pay for it. I would guess that may have been his motivation.

Yes Bethani, and if I weer wagering as to his motivation in entering him for 5 grand, I'd wager this was exactly what he wanted.

1) I am not anonymous to the host. He's been buzzing around since August.

2) Our host has been threatening to ban me and deleting my posts for a week. I COULD be wrong, but I believe my post concerning BTW and the trolls was deleted by Byk. I doubt Bethani or the other guy from Bklyn. would bother.

An FYI..

As of NOW, posters will only be able to 'edit' for 30 minutes after they first post a message...

BLAH BLAH BLAH, I think I made my point.
The only people who should criticize the anonymous guys should be the ones who aren't anonymous themselves.

perhaps that will engender a more level-headed approach to posting.
i wonder how many temper tantrum posts i've typed, but hit the 'back' button, rather than the submit button....gets the words out of the head, without anyone having to suffer thru reading them!

i'm not criticizing anyone for being anonymous, i'm critical of their behavior based on that feeling of being safe and secure behind a keyboard! i know my postings are from me, not a persona. i communicate exactly as i do in person, which is why sometimes my posts can be misconstrued, as i have a very dry sense of humor. so much of what i type tongue in cheek seems to be serious to some, especially those not used to me.

people would be shocked i think...well, maybe not. i have a quick temper, but it cools pretty rapidly. i'd hate to put up something that i know five minutes later i would be embarrassed about typing--especially since it's not something i would say out loud. i try to walk away for a few minutes if someone ticks me off, so i don't put into words exactly what is in my head.

cooler heads must prevail.

I do my absolute best to remain neutral (although I often have an opinion on the 'fight of the day') so I find myself writing things out and then just hitting the back button like you said.:D

by the way, if you're going to be posting all day today -- i'd be careful to not waste post 6,000 on something useless.

As an avid watcher of the countdown to your 6,000th post, I am hoping for some sort of "state of New York Racing" comment, or some sort of backhanded, slightly offensive post directed towards another poster's ignorant comments -- your two best types of posts.

I can start making some stupid comments now if it will help you achieve a classic 6,000th post. These milestones are not to be wasted.

Most of my posts are comments back at someone in a thread thats already started. I haven't started too many threads. I also don't try and write a novel in every post. I may have a lotta posts, but I can bet you I don't have the most words typed here.

Hopefully everyone not following this thread will find out.

How do people updating their picks in the picks section update them with the results? Just make more posts below? I really enjoy how it's done now, for what it's worth!
