We could pool our money and hire someone to slip in and castrate the horse.
|
Why are no American publications reporting this? Bernardini is an American horse, from my perspective. Last week the NY Daily News reported in backpage headlines that Joe Torre is out as the Yankee skipper. :D I am going to hold off on my disappointment; I did not recover from Vindication yet.
|
Perhaps our "friends" in the desert are thinking they would like two horses of the year and won't let Bernie get in DC's path next year.
My guess is, given his record of only 5 races so far and obvious health problems, that DC will be all through before the real racing in 2007 begins. Bastards |

You say, "No human decency..." Yeah right, Your problem is that the Arabs are actually doing well in the sport you love. You hate so much, you can't stand their success. |
Quote:
Why in the world is it worthy of your enmity that they move the colt to stud? It's their horse, not yours, and if they feel it's right to retire him, so be it. Criticize the decision all you want rationally, but why not leave the anti-Arab thing alone for a while? |

Find one " anti-arab " comment I have made before calling me a bigot you swine. And my posts are objectionable? |

S2s,
I kinda understand what you're saying. Seems to me that some folks have much more of a problem with the owners than the horse. Maybe they're unable to make the distinction. btw...I also hate disguised racism. |

Then say it to me. The internet really makes people brave........and stupid apparently. |

A Country Of Strangers
Great book, falls into these "lines" as this thread turns :( |

If that's what you read, go back and reread my post. I never mentioned a name. Am I to blame for something you thought you heard me say? |
Quote:
After that you stated " I also hate disguised racism ". Yeah, yer right, you said nothing to lead me to my response. Amazing stuff. |

I'm not backing down from my stand against racism. If you took what I said in the wrong way, that's why I said you needed to read it again. |

Actually I did not, I knew he meant " by the way ", but as he was responding, in agreement, to the one post in this thread by that slime, one where he called me a racist with absolutely no justification whatsoever, and now with typical internet cowardice simply refuses to acknowledge what he did, I felt it was fair to say he was agreeing with him...considering he basically said " I know where you're coming from buddy ". Just more of the same. No accountability on the internet. |

You really need to think this over because you are completely f'n wrong. |
If this truly happens and the horse is sound after the Breeders' Cup Classic, I would be PISSED, and my support (which isn't really support other than the fact that they happen to own my two favorite horses) for Darley would REALLY deminish...
I thought they'd do the right thing because of their finanical position and display some sense of sportingness - and they still might - but there would be NOBODY more disappointed in them if they retire Bernardini after the BC...nobody... I know that he is probably a $100,000,000 peice of horse flesh and potentially the most expensive horse we've seen in years (way moreso than FuPeg was), but with money not being a huge object to those guys and the fact that he is such an efficient and easy mover and is sound - retiring that horse would be a damn shame....a damn shame...it makes me mad thinking about the possibilty of it  |

You seem to be very insistant. Go fight it out with Sent 2 Stud. All I said was that some people have difficulty making a distinction between the horse and the owners. Have at it! |

When you decide to reread what I've stated, I'll accept your apology. |

I'm a pretty good natured guy but you'll have to forgive me for assuming that someone who agrees with a poster who calls me a racist, with no caveat that perhaps he was out of line with me, is inferring that he also agrees I am a racist. If you fail to see how I would infer that from what you posted, to the other poster, then it is really you that needs to reread your comments to that piece of filth. I could make a sick analogy, but would prefer not to as I think you honestly don't understand why I took offense to your post, but I will say that were I to simply agree with a poster here who referred to you as something objectionable I don't think you would be out of line with me if you were pissed at me as well. |

That's a valid question. I started at the beginning of this thread when I responded. It seemed to me that some held a view, right or wrong, against the decision of the Arabian owners to retire their horse, for their as yet unsaid reason. There seemed to me to be lots of animous against the Shiek and his family. Perhaps the posters were mouning the loss of the horse, but it seemed to me that there were some unkind words said. I think some read my posts the wrong way. I didn't accuse Black Throated Wind of being a racist. I also will miss seeing Bern on the track. Hey, he's not my horse. If Black TW thinks I have an alliance with S2S...well, he can think what ever he wants to think. I think for myself, and speak the same way. I didn't accuse him of anything. So, if you go back and read this thread from the beginning, you might find that there have been a few that criticized the Marktoums for their decision and vented their disapproval in a way that I find offensive. I hope that answers your question, and wish only peace for everyone. DTS |

I appreciate you being candid with me. I didn't see things the same way, but that's why they say, "opinions are like a$$holes... everyone's got one." :D I do think that it sucks that he won't be racing next year (IF in fact, this is true.) |
Downthestretch
The problem is the poster you distinctly responded to had singled me out as a racist ( I am still waiting for him to either back up what he said or apologize...neither of which that foul vermin has done ). Thus, my inference was hardly surprising.
I, too, think that someone who finds what the Sheiks do objectionable, simply because they are Arabs, is racist. But, I wouldn't expess that opinion to someone who called me a racist with no cause, while agreeing with them. |
Not really surprised that this horse will be retired after the BC. They are just doing what everyone else is doing. Yeah, they don't need the money, but like someone said, maybe they are looking to breed their own TC winner.:p
As for this "racism" crap being bantered about here, if any of you that think what was said was racists, you need to visit the Keeneland Sept. sale on the first 4 days of the sale. The terms "F****** Arabs" and "F****** Irish" are quite commonly heard among other buyers and even onlookers. My, my there are many "racists" running around Keeneland. |
Quote:
Honestly, I meant no offense to you. I appreciate to your insights to racing. If you have issues with someone, do me a favor, ok?, don't include me in that. I have no problem with you. If you took something differently than I intended, well, thanks for letting me explain. Peace. |
Quote:
Clarify for me what "enemies of racing" means if you will. I never called anyone "filth" for expressing their views. All I've tried to say in my last three posts is that I really have no ax to grind with you. If you have a problem with me...well, sad to say, that's YOUR problem. |
I just brought home some ribs for dinner, with green beans with bacon and potato salad. Place is called City Barbeque.
What is everyone having? |

I understand where you're coming from, and while I think you should be careful about agreeing with posters who have just indefensably called another poster something derogatory, I understand that you were not necessarily agreeing with his disgraceful and unfounded accusations directed towards me. I appreciate your attempts to clarify the situation. |

As regards my " filth " references, that coward who called me a racist and thinks he ( or she ) is clever and doesn't apologize, or back up, his ( or her ) unfounded remarks is the very definition of filth. |
