Can anybody shed some light on which trainers involved in the sequence, as known as big bettors, that have horses involved here?

Mike Welsch had a similar take on ATR regarding the edge given those with deep pockets vs the little guys in having 6 - 12 horae fields. Sure you get much more coverage @ 20 cents wager, BUT, whats the difference vs a normal $2 p6 with a normal card where you can eke out a single or two to lean on with smaller fields. I know the big $$$ of $10-20 mil ia greatly enticing, but i am having conflicting feelings about participating.

Ken Ramsey is shipping four horses in for the sequence and you know he wants a big piece of this. You should assume all four are live.

No Rain For Monday!!

Best news of all for Monday (according to The Weather Channel):

NO RAIN FOR MONDAY or the days leading up to Monday!! Fast and firm in all likelihood!

Year after year you work to beat a 15% plus takeout and then you want to hesitate betting a sequence with an overall positive expectation?

I won't bet more than I can comfortably lose but I don't understand how anyone can think this isn't worth their best effort.

tanner12oz 05-24-2014 06:23 AM

I'm going to play it with a large ticket but based on the sequence my confidence level is low...dint think you can take a stand anywhere...cage fighter probably most deserving single imo

Yep--a net negative takeout, and still they whine. Incredible.

It would be far more advantageous if the 4 races were rained off of the turf. Generally, off the turf races are chalky events loaded with pure toss-outs.

It's great news for Gulfstream that these races will stay on the turf, but it makes the degree of difficulty to hit much higher. You're forced to spread more, unlike last year, where the races rained off made it possible to hit the thing numerous times.

Looking at this sequence, and with the minimum doubled to 20-cents, the goal has to be to just try and hit it once. Anyone attempting to have it multiple times better have either a massive budget or multiple singles they believe are near certain winners.

letswastemoney 05-24-2014 03:17 PM

I agree. Wet dirt/off turf races may be chalky, but they are far more simple.

Welp.

I wonder if it hurt that most stayed away playing today.

I still can't reconcile in my mind, but could the Johnny Pinwheel theory actually have been right? :zz:

winning ticket was purchased at Palm Beach Kennel Club through Ohio hub, cost of ticket $7,603.

The 6 horses you were referring to were the horses that took down the jackpot, this was the one ticket live to all 6 in that race.

Stunning.

this is the photo finish!

jms62 05-25-2014 05:28 PM

How much money did Gulfstream lose tomorrow. Certainly they could have bought an All/All/All/All/All/All to force a carry

Ya. I'm kind of amazed with how this was botched on several levels. . . Good for the multi-millionaire that hit it, though. Not like $6 million getting sucked out of the horseplaying economy will have any impact on handle.

It is an interesting idea Jim but I would have to think that it would be illegal for them to do so. Seems to me it would be pool manipulation and fraud. People bet their money into it thinking they at least have a shot to take it down.

Based on those finger-nails ... if I told people around here that the ticket was mine, they'd believe it. "Dr. Witch Nails" is the nickname that some of the gamblers at PID call me.

As clever as it was For Gulfstream to set things up for Monday, including making the pick 6 sequence difficult, they should have also tried to make the Sat and Sun pick 6 sequences as simple as possible.
Congrats to the ticket holder(s) in Ohio, who took a pretty big risk putting together a ticket that expensive. Lots of disappointed bettors out there tonight.

It's not really a big risk for a guy with pockets that deep. He basically bought the whole sequence because he could.

Frost King 05-25-2014 07:02 PM

He basically dutched the two horses for $3800 each

tector 05-25-2014 07:45 PM

Congrats to the winner. Hell of a stunning development.

What a game....

Kasept 05-25-2014 08:17 PM

Stranger than fiction..

Dan Borislow the winner so you know the money ultimately will find it's way back into circulation.. One way or another. Congrats to him on a clever play.

I know people are disappointed, but he probably did a lot of us a favor.

True, I only lost $6 on my twinspires $100 players pool investment!

ahh yes........ for me, probably so ;)

Calzone Lord 05-25-2014 10:09 PM

During his phone interview, he said he actually bought two separate tickets for $7,603.20 each.

At the Palm Beach Kennel Club, the tote machines don't spit out tickets larger than 10k so he had to play it that way. He was invested for over 15.2k. He said he only went after it so hard today, because his sons graduation party was tomorrow from 1PM to 5PM, and he couldn't play it.

So he had ALL's in five of the six races, and was four deep in the other.

Gulfstream shot themselves in the foot by not making this sequence as easy as possible. Tracks generally like to card the deepest and most competitive races in the P6 sequence and sometimes will even move a Graded stakes race out of a P6 sequence if it's not a competitive looking event.

A clever thing to do would have been to let a race or two go with a 4-horse field and put it in the sequence. A race or two that otherwise wouldn't even fill.

This is extremely accurate.

Seattleallstar 05-26-2014 07:12 AM

I don't know many of us who can afford to drop that much on a bet like the Rainbow. Money did find it's way back

3kings 05-26-2014 07:45 AM

I will be interested to see what the handle is today on pools other than the P6. A lot of people already spent a great deal of time on the card.
