The court opinion is amazing...http://blogs.courier-journal.com/hor...t-decision.pdf
This is my favorite quote: "Gambling has always been addictive, but before the internet, at least the addicts had to go to the trouble of driving somewhere to place his bet. The internet allows the addict to get his fix 24/7/365, all without leaving the comfort of his own home." |

This is Texas we're talking about :D
They are shooting themselves in the foot. |
I dont expect much from the appeal.
The courts will probably outlaw horse race gambling in-person as well than reverse their decision on online gambling. |

I would leave Texas if it werent for its abundance of jobs in oil/gas and medical fields, good neighborhoods and and no state income tax. There is no such thing as a perfect place. |

Each side's arguments.
Click on the left "Oral arguments and recordings" enter docket # 13-50900 http://www.ca5.uscourts.gov/ |
Court upheld decision for the Racing Commission as expected. Texas still on-track wagering only.

At least we have HRTs to look forward to. :zz:

Sorry about your Texas issue, Casp. We have our own issues here in Virginia. Can't bet on thoroughbred racing unless we do it online. (Just as well... I just couldn't stand the "vibe" at the OTB. Colourful, friendly characters, but if I can't get a good glass of wine somewhere, I don't want to be there ;-) )
So... here's where we are: We signed up on XpressBet and have been using it without incident since March. Then, all of a sudden on Saturday, XpressBet BLOCKS the account. I called to ask why, and they said it was because our address was not showing up as a legit address on TransUnion. (Funny, it showed up as a legit account when we signed up, and has been legit through the thousands of dollars that we've waged on their site since March). They asked that we e-mail a copy of driver's license showing the address. Mind you, we have lived in our home for 15 years. If they use TransUnion, then they KNOW the address is legit. Hubby refuses to e-mail a copy of his driver's license to some Internet site which already has his SSN, DOB, Bank info, etc., etc. So utterly ridiculous. We are now researching other TS accounts. (I suppose we'll save a few dollars as we search. Their loss) |

Do a search using ADW advance deposit wagering or similar,as this is an oft discussed topic . Paceadvantage is another horse site and search there too with same topic terms. You could also google it and you should get alot of hits. GL |
Thank you all. Will check out several sites and make a decision. Can I hang on without wagering 'til Saturday? We'll see!!!

Judge Strikes Down State Plans for "Historical Racing"
http://www.texastribune.org/2014/11/...orical-racing/ A new low.. Bingo parlors sway court. Texas is just an appalling place. |

This hopefully re-opens the door for ADW to come back to Texas. This time an in-state operation where they can keep all the profits for themselves . A few states already do this like Arkansas. If it weren't for the abundance of jobs, low cost of living, low crime rates, good weather, and no state income tax many people would have left Texas long time ago. |

Only liberal assholes find solace in these asinine stats. Normal people know it really all comes down to PERSONAL preference. Not some mindless groupthink tactic funded by scum. |

As Helicopter very astutely laid out, we Texans enjoy perks like a robust economy, strong housing market, great business environment, three of the ten largest cities in the US, low crime rates in major cities and the ever important lack of a state income tax. Rest assured, if we're #45, then 1-44 are living really well! |
