Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said the steroid injections given to 15 Godolphin horses was part of a regimen that now-sullied trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni followed while he was in Dubai.

yeah, saw that story on bloodhorse. valid point about getting steroids in one country, and then shipping.
|
What a guy.
MAHMOOD AL ZAROONI filled five unmarked syringes with an illegal anabolic steroid, took them by car to his Newmarket stable and passed them through the window to an assistant with instructions to dope five horses. Al Zarooni had written the names of the five horses on a list that he handed through his car window with the syringes to an unqualified veterinary assistant, Sharif Mahboob. At no time did Al Zarooni seek advice from his team of vets or record the injections in the medication record. http://www.racingpost.com/news/live.sd?event_id=1056435 |

I am over here in the UK and the opinion in the papers is that he was thrown under the bus by his bosses and the UK racing establishment. The opinion here is that e was not the master mind and UK racing is so dependent on the Dubai connections that there is no way they would investigate properly for risk of having them pull the plug and down the drain it would all go.

i don't think he did it all on his own. quick hearing and resolution. nothing to see here, people. move along.

Designated fall guy. He knew it going in and was ready to take his licks and move on. You can be sure he's set up for life though.

Sheikh Mohammed launches inquiry after police seize drugs from Dubai jet
(Excerpt)... An illegal shipment of unlicensed veterinary goods was seized from a Dubai government private jet by UK authorities at Stansted airport earlier this year, causing Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UK's leading owner of racehorses, to launch an internal investigation into his equine operations. Thousands of pounds worth of unlicensed products – including steroidal injections, anaesthetics and anti-inflammatories that have been described as "potentially toxic and dangerous to horses" – were seized and destroyed by the UK Border Agency and the Veterinary Medicines Directorate on 3 May at 7pm following the arrival of a Dubai Royal Air Wing flight. Sheikh Mohammed is monarch of the gulf emirate, as well as the owner of Godolphin, the country's largest Flat racing operation. http://www.theguardian.com/sport/201...ry-drugs-dubai |

On Tuesday, the BHA's spokesman, Robin Mounsey, went further. "The VMD contacted us to let us know the seizures had taken place, to give us details of the products involved and to let us know that, in their view, there was no connection with racing," he said.
