Oh, been doing the laundry for past 2-3 years and to my dismay getting too good at it..and everything else...but what the heck, got nothing else to do but play with the ponies and watch fav evening tv shows...mostly those on CBS..don't read much past couple years after cataract surgery...

Wife would probably agree with you on that. I think it's not only the act of doing it, but also the coming up with something that you haven't had a million times before. I guess we are lucky here in Hot Springs. Pretty small place, but not so small that we don't have lots of restaurants to choose from and some pretty good ones.

You know, you have to have a pretty strong constitution to watch any movie taken from a book written by Cormack McCarthy like No Country for Old Men. The action parts of everything he writes is interesting and appealing to fans of action movies, but everything is also so depressing. Read one of his books entitled The Road, I think. Most depressing thing I have ever read. About a man and his son trying to survive after a nuclear war. A movie, I also did not care for was "Leaving Las Vegas." Stayed and watched it to the end, but a lot of people at the movie house, got up and left before it was over. Tough to watch someone drink themselves to death. Only good thing about it was Elizabeth Shue. What a fox she is.:D

What you said is my life in a nutshell, except for the cataract part. Probably got them coming, but so far ok.

Guess, I better get up and get ready for the world. Have been typing at the computer and chasing dogs all morning. Have a "teacup" yorkie and a chocolate lab. Problem is lab can open the door from the outside and does so when she gets tired of being outside and when she does that the other dog goes outside and usually without me noticing which puts me in a panic. We supposedly have coyotes here and they like nothing better than to make a snack out of a little dog. So I spend a bit of my time chasing dogs. Neighbors probably love it, when I'm out there in my PJs with dishevelled hair chasing my dog. Not worried about the big dog. She is about 85 pounds. Coyotes might get a mean surprise, if they tried to tackle her, but I don't know, she is a very sweet dog and funny to see her and the little dog together. The tiny dog is the alpha and she gets after the big one who tolerates it very well. Kinda like a gnat after an elephant. My apologies for anecdotes from mundane life. Probably so loquacious because wife is gone.

Was nominated for Oscar in that movie..now on CSI, plays the blood specialist...not as foxy but wouldn't kick her outta bed :D

No, not really about the hair. That was poetic license.:D, but what I have was dishevelled. Which probably makes it worse for the neighbors who saw me. Also, hadn't shaved and was in flip flops. What an appealing sight all that must have been. Actually, they're probably used to it by now. Pretty common occurence around here. They're probably glad I'm not chasing them down the street which I sometimes have to do when they get out of my fenced yard.

Internet says "les Mis" coming out around Christmas time. Have to add that one to my list along with Lincoln. Anne Hathaway supposed to be terrific in it. Didn't even know she could sing. Probably should have. Some people blessed with endless talent. Saw Les Mis in Las Vegas. Really good show.

Just saw preview told my wife that was Emmy Rossum and she said no dummy that's your girl Hathaway..I didn't know she could sing i says...She became one of my girls after Prada, love her...she's so cute...:) Have both movies on my list also...have you seen The Bourne Legacy?..gotta get that but know i will be disappointed without my boy Damon...

No, didn't see Bourne Legacy. Last thing I saw him in was the newer version of True Grit which I enjoyed very much. I guess the last thing I watched recently was Hunger Games which I rented on my kindle. Can't remember when I actually went to the movie theater to watch a movie. Usually just rent them and watch on kindle especially, if I'm going somewhere like Vegas. Just download them and watch them on the plane.

I think the last couple of movies that I saw that I really liked were George Clooney in The Descendants and Brad Pitt in Money Ball. I sometimes get on some strange kicks with movies. For a while, I was watching a lot of sub-titled foreign movies like The Kite Runner and the Stieg Larsson trilogy The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, etc. Read those books also. Saw a very intense movie titled The Stoning of Saraya M that was absolutely haunting. Iranian director I think and some Iranian American actors. Not sure where it was made, but it was a courageous movie about the horrifying practice in some muslim countries of stoning for infidelity.

Oh God, The Road. I can never read that book again. Tore me apart too much. Though there's one where the movie, while very faithful, I think wasn't quite as good as the book, because you didn't have the "aha" moment I had around page 60 or so as to what the setting was (I would have yelled SPOILERS at your comment, but the book and movie have been out long enough. ;) ).

Funny anecdote about Leaving Las Vegas- a friend of mine who was living in LA at the time Shue got nominated said that the story running around was, if she won the Oscar, the film's editors were going to get up and accept the award- that her performance really was put together in the editing room.

The Descendants is adapted from a novel- I'm glad you mentioned it; I meant to put it on my library list after I saw the movie and I forgot. Thanks for the reminder! I liked the movie, too. I wasn't a George Clooney fan for the longest time, but the older he gets, the more I like him as an actor. I thought he was terrific in The Descendants.

Pitt was excellent in that movie and my pick for the Oscar...IMO his best role ever..I can't remember last time i was at the movies, maybe 15 years or more..I've had netflix for about 4 years and before that Movie Gallery...Think i've seen every movie ever made...lol...we had a movie thread in the Esoteric Central forum several months ago...i've been building a list of movies that i liked over the years, still adding to it...will put it up soon...have to get Michael mclem0822 over here, he's a movie buff too..

David Hyde Pierce, he's the star in this one The Perfect Host (2011).kept me guessing...check it out...

I think I saw that movie The Perfect Host on netflicks, but I didn't watch it. Almost too much on netflicks. Hard to choose what to watch. An interesting movie I saw back awhile ago was this movie Memento with Guy Pearce. Absolutely make you crazy to watch it.

Memento is on netflicks. It is like nothing you've ever seen before. After I watched I said WTF did I just watch. My son recommended it. Dummy me, had to have him explain it to me after I watched it.

After you said that about esoteric last night, I went over there and browsed a bit. Came across that thread about pbr and other bad beers. Triggered a 60 year old memory. I remember when I was about 7 and my brother was about 12, my dad got a new company car. It was a pretty maroon 51 Ford. My mom and dad, brother and myself took the car for a ride in the country. While we were passing a pasture full of cows, one of them let fly with a cascade of cow piss which my brother and I pointed out to my dad and he glanced over at the cow and said in a very dry manner, "oh she's just taking a Falstaff." which my brother and I thought was hysterically funny. For about 5 years after that, whenever we had to go we referred to it as taking a Falstaff. Kinda sums up what my dad thought of Falstaff beer. Guess, I'm not totally senile yet, if I can remember something from 60 years ago. Now, if could only remember what I did with my car keys and did I take my medicine this morning?:D Internet says that Falstaff is what Hank Williams was drinking the night that he died. Must have been some really bad beer, but wonder what he was mixing with it?

I loved Memento. I had a big crush on Guy Pierce after LA Confidential, but then he got too scary skinny for my taste. But he was great in Memento.
