That was the race when Afleet Alex drifted way out before coming back towards the wire. The place was going nuts.

Which begs the question: who do you think should have won the award? Looks like Vanlandingham had a pretty good year, punctuated by year-end victories in the JC Gold Cup and the DC International, which at the time were the two established "championship" races in the dirt and turf divisions.
