yes there was a thread on it the other day when Woodbine introduced it.

Agreed though pretty neat

Just watched the two earlier turf stakes be won by horses who led (or was fighting for the lead), pillar to post. Who in the Mile likes to run that way?

HAve to agree he is the play was going to wait until until closer to post time but had to leave ITW so $20 WPS on the 1 is the ticket.

A lot of em. Sweet Return, Therecomesatiger, Remarkable News, and Ballast are all legitimite speed horses. Shoal Water - another possible frontrunner - isnt quick enough to go with those.

I see my girl Dreaming Of Anna and beat those boys today in the Summer Stakes. That makes her 3 for 3 lifetime so far. I'm very happy that it turned sloppy last week for the Lassie at Arlington and she was scratched and entered today instead.

Didn't Affirmed Success win this race a few years ago ?

10-11-5-2 order of finish Steve....I like the numbers at the bottom showing horse position...never seen that before, very helpful

Pedigree Ann 09-17-2006 04:23 PM

Thanks everybody for the discussion. I took Becrux over Rebel Rebel and boy am I glad. Won't lose any ground in the contest at least. Good race to get a decent price on a logical winner.

Congrats to you and everyone who had Becrux.

Not exactly the way i thought it would play out but nice to see a couple i had given up on (Becrux, Win McCool) win this weekend. Very happy for PVal too...

Great pick. Cheers! :)

Pval

How did PVal get to ride?
Has he been cleared?
Or, is it just in outside the US which obviously includes CANADA????

Thanks.... Having been following the PVAL soap opera day to day...

All I know is that he passed the hair follicle test in CALI.

Everyone is welcome for my brilliance.

Only just saw the race this morning, but here are some thoughts:

Hardly a vintage renewal of what used to be the Atto Mile, and notwithstanding Ad Valorem was giving weight away all round, a result that lends weight to the theory that the US defence of the Breeders' Cup Mile will be a strong one, Aragorn and Gorella of particular interest; the pace was strong and favoured those held up, Sweet Return best of those up with the pace throughout.

BECRUX: is an improved performer since being gelded in the summer and put up his best effort to date, bravely holding on after it had appeared the runner up would collar him close home; he probably stays 9f, but is at least as effective at 1m and wears bandages these days. It's worth bearing in mind that his only outing on ground softer than good (as a 2yo in Italy) was a poor effort.

REBEL REBEL: has generally been disappointing since finishing runner up to Footstepsinthesand at Newmarket last season, but this was a much better effort, proving that he remains competitive at the highest level, albeit getting the run of the race. 1m is likely to prove his optimum trip, and for all that he has won on good to soft, he appears best on fast ground.

AD VALOREM: wasn't entirely discredited giving weight all round, keeping on well from the rear without ever looking like getting on terms. However, he needs either a relatively weak G1 or for events to go very much his way (Queen Anne) to be successful at this level.

I should also point out that he has run his best races at tracks with one- or no-turn configurations - Newmarket, Belmont and Woodbine. This is why when I was down to two choices, either or, he was one of them. I will oppose him at Churchill, whose turf course requires 2 turns for the mile distance.
