I'm not upset anymore....upset was what I was at the OTB:o :o |
Basically as a rule, people suck. I agree kev, if its not mine, I wont take it. I dont care if i find it somewhere. I will turn it in to somebody because i didn't earn it in anyway. People don't need to take advantage of other people especially when its as blatant as this. This guy can't be happy with his life. Stealing money from a somebody he doesn't even know. I almost feel sorry for him how empty his life must be.

Sorry to hear about that. It's really sad the amount of scumbags that are out there. They all seem to end up at the racetrack or OTB as well. I could care less if it's a $1.50 and been sitting there for 3 days. If it's not mine, I want no part of it.
The good news is that there's a neat little trick that you can do to f#ck with these degenerate morons. It's fun and I make a point of doing it anytime I'm at a racetrack. As we all know, there are people that love to just wait and watch to see if someone leaves anything in a betting machine. Sometimes there's 2 or even 3 guys watching so they can make their move. So what I like to do is screw with them beyond belief. You need to have some change on your voucher. It can be $.10, $.20, $.30, whatever. Go up to a machine and proceed to punch in a monstrous superfecta ticket. In a 10 horse field there's 5040 combinations. Punch in an all/all/all/all, but use the actual numbers so they show up on the screen as opposed to the asterisks which denote use of the all button. $5040 shows up in the upper right corner of the machine for the bet amount. You'll see these ba$tards fly to the machine thinking they struck gold or something because all they see is the $5040. When they realize that's the bet amount and the actual voucher amount is only like $.30 or something they get angry, punch the machine, and look like your typical degenerate loser. Their dream of shoes without holes in them has just been dashed. It takes 10 seconds to do and is well worth it. Just take a few steps away from the machine and enjoy their pathetic nature. It's especially hysterical when you get a couple of them do their slow little walk toward the machine, and then literally buck elbows at each other trying to be the first one there. Is it a little sick and twisted? Sure, but it's a nice little way to throw a big ol' GFY right back at them. Good luck. |
get this - the tickets that are run thru the totes the day before at beulah park are taken out the next day. soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
my dude plays a similar prank on this scumbag lowlife who smooches off EVERYONE. he lays out this voucher by the tote that was run thru the tote from the day before that was worth something like $145, dated the day before. dumbas walks RIGHT UP seeing the voucher and smiles. this is at 11am, so he can not cash it and i am sitting at a table near by seeing this all unfold. bout an hour later (it was in the winter last year and aqueduct is always the first track at beulah this time of year to open up) he strolls to a machine, it keeps spitting it out. dumbas goes to a teller and they run it thru - next thing i know he is throwing his hat on the ground classic stuff:D :D :D :D |

I know at Great Lakes Downs here in Michigan if you lost/forgot your ticket in the machine you can tell someone and they'll cancel the ticket for you. They'll ask you what machine you lost it in and refund your money. They'll ask you question's like last track bet and what it paid and were any more bets made. I lost a $25 voucher and got my money back the same day. I've seen as high as a $700 dollar one returned before there.

I try to be honest at the track. Not because I wouldn't want your money, but it has to do with karma. It's hard enough to make money at the track without losing it in the machine.
Sorry Kev. Luckily, there is ball cancer for folks who steal your cash. -TF |

No offense GPK but it is your responsibility to make sure you have all your tickets and voucher before you leave the window or self betting machine. It isnt the responsibility of the person behind you to keep track of your money. In fact, I can't even remember who the person was in front of me when I make a bet. I am too busy reviewing my selections. Now if the man knew it was your $50 voucher, then yes he should have done the right thing and give it back to you. But not everyone does the right thing.

As a fool who has done the same thing more than once, I sympathize with you, but it is your own fault.
People at OTBs aren't going to help you often, and many watch for that kind of thing. They have pretty much replaced the "stoopers" and "flippers" of the old days. As a long-timew player, I assume, you should pay more attention. But you already know that. |
I'm not a real superstitious guy but I firmly believe that stealing money or taking a voucher will bring you miles of bad karma. You will lose photos, get shut out of winners, etc.
At the track this past month I went to use a self serve machine near the racing office. There are little wooden ledges in front of these machines. On the ledge just sitting there was a wallet. Someone had obviously gotten out their wallet to get out their voucher and rested the wallet on the ledge and forgotten. I took it up to security and lost and found which is WAY down at the other end of the grandstand. It was stuffed with cash. I made the security guy count the cash in front of me and take down my name and phone number and address. I also wrote down the name and address on the guys liscense in the wallet. Old guy, from Massachusetts. This past Monday I got a letter in the mail from the guy who said he had freaked out completely and had bad moments while he realized his wallet was gone. He said he had credit cards and bank cards and personal memento photos and thought for sure at the racetrack of all places that he was screwed for sure. He couldn't believe that someone turned it in with the money still in it. He also included a 100 dollar gift certificate to a restaurant in town here because he said anyone honest enough to turn in that wallet would probably not accept cash. Quite frankly the letter itself was what was worth reading. I once had a scumbag steal an 800 dollar voucher in an OTB on me. The feeling is so sickening that it can't even be described. It will never do anyone any good to steal money at the track, I'm convinced it comes back to them in spades. Just wait Kev, one day that guy will be alive in a DD and really need the cash. His horse will get steadied one million times or he will be dq'd or he will lose an agonizing photo. Those folks are the lowest possible forms of life. |
I was at the track at Laurel once and this guy Kevin, found out his name later was betting in front of me. He left his $732.00 voucher in the machine I calmly took it out of the machine and kept in my hand,,,walked over to his table and threw it down to him and he says " oh thats a ticket that had already been cashed" I said you better check again dude because that is the ticket you left in the machine, man the look on his face was priceless he wanted to buy me a beer and I told him I dont drink beer and he said I have done that before only never to see my money again I cant believe you did that I told him that " people that cheat and steal never win" later that day I had the first 3 in the super but my 4th horse got nosed out at the wire and this was going to be a huge super but low and behold they flashed the results up and the super paid all in the 4th spot and I cashed for $2600.00 so I am a firm believer in karma!!! also I found out later he owned some horses that ran in NY and he gave out his horse to one day and the damn horse paid like $32 to win so I made my that money and more just from my interaction with him.

I was at the Hampton OTB, not Chesapeake. Hampton is closer for me now that I am living in Yorktown. |
if you left it its your fault, id do the same thing and cash the voucher or bet on it. Its just like if someone left some cash on the floor.

Nice try to ruffle some feathers though:eek: |
yeah right, if I found that left somewhere im sure as hell taking it

How sad....
|
The person who found the voucher is under no obligation to return the voucher to the owners. How does that person know it was really yours? Now if you went to report a lost voucher, the track people will tell you to keep it. Finder keeper, loser weeper.
|
Euro I disagree. He almost had to have known whose it was. Beyond that kev was asking if anyone had it. It's not finders keepers. Oh look, I found a car out in the parking lot with the keys in it, i might as well take it. Its the same thing. You certainly wouldn't steal a car so why would you steal someones money.
|
ouch...hopefully you hit a few good races this weekend to make it up.

About 2 weeks ago I went to lone star and while making a bet at tote machine I cashed out. I noticed about $70 more than I had. I lingered around the machine and looked for someone looking for the abandoned voucher. I returned to my seat and called the tote tech. Explained that I claimed voucher and pointed the machine out. I didnt tell the tech how much and didnt make a big to-do, Thinking if I made the anounce ment that there would be several that would be making the claim. At LS they can track the vouchers and stop the use of a lost voucher. Sure enough the tech returned with a patron that had all the right info and I returned the money. Later in the day I hit an almost $500 pk-3 and a $3000 pk 4. I feel the searching for the owner of the 70 buck voucher was the key to my nice day.
|
If I bet down where vouchers got stolen I would worry about it. If for some reason someone did get ahold of a voucher of mine and tried to cash it. I would find out who did it, and I would pay someone 500 to go break their nose

lost vouchers and tracking voucher history
I was with my uncle on Derby Day. He was losing his battle with cancer and I gave him a $200 voucher. He went to make his first bet of the day. Came back with the $5 bet and left the rest on the machine. I went looking and I could see there was absolutely no way I was going to get a read on all these hoosiers. No one turned it in and they were too busy to help me.
Then there was a time I go to the auto tote and there is an extra voucher laying in the slot. I just old on to it. You yell out "anyone lose a voucher" and 6 of 'em will holer. I see this guy looking all over his table and in the machine. I ask, "what cha looking for?" He loudly says he lost a $100 voucher. Then quietly says $18. So I hand it over. Strange But the strangest thing was when I stuck my winning ticket in the autotote and it paid $66. I tried going back to the machine and mak another bet with that voucher and it wouldn't work. I go to the manager and ask him hat is up with the system. This woman sitting next to the machine apparently saw what it paid and went to the manager and claimed that someone stole her voucher for $66 off her table. They were able to lock up my voucher until they did a history on it and found that it was from a winning ticket and not her table. Lying ****** Karma took care of her sorry **** I am sure They have the ability to do a history on tickets. if you can give them accurate information |
damn this post! it made me have a conscience:( :) :D
