Maybe he'll have a career ending injury that's not life threatening and then when he begins to mount the first mare his balls fall off.

Only fitting since the connections have none. Horse shouldn't either.

RolloTomasi 02-22-2011 11:10 AM

With the race nearly 3 weeks away, if I was racing secretary at Tampa Bay Downs, I'd pay Bob Baffert $50k to enter The Factor in the Timely Writer.

Maybe he'll even enter Sinai, Jaycito, Da Ruler, or Awesome Patriot on his own.

Not necessarily. Wasn't Brethren 4-5 in the Sam Davis? I can't imagine he'd be more than that if he deputizes for Pletcher in the Tampa Bay Derby.

The Indomitable DrugS 02-22-2011 02:02 PM

Won't this mean Dialed In is going to the Tampa Derby now?

It still will be better from the 1-20 on Uncle Mo. And a (likely) full field too.

And then the Florida Derby 22 days later? I would be surprised.

You're probably right.

Still - It would have been 22 days from the Timely Writer to the Florida Derby - I'm not sure shipping to Tampa to face Bretheren is that much more grueling.

I suppose his other options would be to have 29 days between the Gotham and Fla Derby - run in the Fla Derby as a 3rd time starter and Ky Derby as a 4th time starter - or abandon the Fla Derby and use a later final prep.

He's not leaving Florida until after the Florida Derby. It's also worth noting that he was also never running in the Fountain of Youth. Never. Where he goes next, however, I don't know. I imagine Nick will figure it out.

I guess he needs to get an N2X to go with him in it - or just go into the Fla Derby as a 3rd time starter.

I guess...unless you feel like running against Uncle Mo, not killing the horse, and basically giving him a mildly competitive workout.

These days, who knows what matters as horses prepare for the Derby. Certainly not what we used to think mattered.

Is that where I recognize that loon from?

I have to plead ignorance about all of this stuff. If you told me that horses had facebook pages and they spoke in the first person about themselves and people responded as if they were talking to the horse I would have told you to lay off the salvia. Scary stuff.

Linda Marie Fiore.

If you have a name that is 3 names long, and they all end in vowels, what's that make you?

Many of those pages are run by 13 year old girls. For example, I know that Becca Case was the original administrator of the Uncle Mo page. I think she might be a co-administrator now.

Is she related to Neko Case?

1 turn mile at the Gulf doesn't seem like a productive prep to me. Graded earnings not withstanding,if the goal is roses I would rather see a test.

Freddy - you posted that you thought Boys At Tosconova offered juicy value in the BC Classic future book about two days before he went to the sidelines. Of course - you liked Boys At Tosc so much because of heresay - you know his owner from Freehold and Dominguez 'wouldn't tell anyone a bottle of water is a bottle of water - but he said Boys had like 100 gears and he's only used 30 of them' or some silly story like that.

Uncle Mo probably does have his issues - a lot of horses do - but you're basically jinxing him to soundness.

36 nominations submitted for the inaugural Timely Writer and Pletcher has 13 of them (wonder how many of his 13 will run).

All five letters long, too. Better than six, I guess.

Remember what the Rastafarians thought of "Ronald Wilson Reagan"?

I do remember.

The more I read now, the more closely their thoughts resembled the truth.
