Travis Stone 08-30-2010 06:45 PM

The verbal abuse at Belmont / Aqueduct is many, many lengths ahead of what happens at Saratoga. The key difference is that at Saratoga they walk through the crowd. Bailey once flipped-out on a group of men giving him fits after every race. It all comes with the territory.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-30-2010 06:51 PM

I remember Bailey getting into a shouting match with a fan while still on horse back when he was coming back to get unsaddled after getting soundly beat on a big favorite in a NY Bred stakes race.

Seattleallstar 08-30-2010 08:10 PM

the only other thing Borel could of done was take back and stalk Life At Ten. But Rachel broke on top already and LAT is the one who sat back.

More likely than not the jockeys are snickering to themselves knowing the idiot screaming obscenities lost his money.

you're probably right. jocks are getting paid to be there, while bettors are paying to be there...yeah, i'm sure the riders feel abused.

Princess Doreen 08-31-2010 05:23 AM

What ground Rachel lost on the first turn didn't cost her the final furlong.
If a jock pushes a horse wide and wins, it's okay. If not the jock's a jerk. HELLO! Guess a lot of you weren't around when Cordero was riding.

I'm sure Calvin can put up with the losers who bet their rent money. One day you're a star and the next day it gets ripped it off the door. Fickle fans.

I'm one of Rachel's biggest fans, but I had cautious optimism about her winning this race.. I could analyze from now until doomsday, but the end result is she lost. I can deal with it and still think she is one of the greatest
3-year old fillies to ever grace the sport of racing. She carries her daddy's genes, and that includes never giving up even if she's running on heart alone.

3. I was a little surprised by the uneducated fans bit... I'd have thought it was more the diehards who would yell at him.

4. It's called passion. There is so much passion in this sport we all love. Easy for me to say it's a good thing since I've never been yelled at by random people but come on... it happens. I (am no fan of Calvins but) would never do it and I presume you wouldn't but the reality is that it happens and the jocks can take it. It must suck and everything but they know to expect it.

Most Diehards are educated about the game my friend, It's the one's who think they know the game that do the yelling and have no idea where the "fetlock joint" on a horse is located

Wow you're brilliant.

Only brilliant people get pissed at degenerates talking down to a jockey. If only you had the courage to confront them instead of holding it in and posting your true feelings here.

P.S. Is your forum name the college you went to and how many years it took to graduate?

Believe me being from Brooklyn, I have the courage to confront anyone including yourself. In reference to Education, I have two Masters degree, One from a university and one from the "street" so if you want to question my courage face to face, I would be glad to oblige

Yeah is that what happened on Sunday, tough guy? You sure what happened was you steaming over a bunch of thugs giving your man crush grief and holding it in until you got home and taking it out on Nerdy Trail?

Fight a stranger over the internet? Being from Brooklyn (which automatically makes you tough LOL) you should focus your anger on stupid s.hit in your area...like the Mosque near the twin towers site.

Been an absolutely brutal year for RA fans

Not surprising to hear that some of them have become unhinged

Z fans, on the other hand, never lose their composure

i'm surprised they did not go after garcia too....for riding too good and winning....lol...lol. i loved the fist pump he gave at the wire....it was facial,....lol

Can't believe anyone literate enough to post here will defend a bunch of a-holes verbally attacking anyone in the game, just because the degenerate gambler lost the wager. Instead of shouting down and blaming thejockey, ask yourself why you were such a dumbshit not to bet on Peristently:p Hey, I know, she didn't make sense, but these are horses, not machines.

Any wonder why people can't introduce the younger generation to going to the racetrack? It's not about being a "big boy ', it's about being a halfway civilized human being. Screw you, your mother and your youngest child if you were ass enough to bet on any horse less than 2-1:D

First, there's no sense arguing with anyone who just lost their rent money, and who's defending these morons, anyway? They're there for comic relief. Jockeys deal with it; so should we.

Second, redboarding methinks. Where prior to the PE did you mention that Persistently was a viable candidate to beat Raitch?

And, you talk about people being "halfway civilized" followed up by "screw you, blah, blah, blah. Get your doctor to change your meds or look up the meaning of hypocrite.

I have no problem with you or anything you've said, but my general rule of thumb is that anyone who spouts off about their education, they are usually pretty lame. And closed minded.

Riot for example.

Ummmm

There's just a slight difference. When Cordero was on the speed going 2 turns at SAR, you weren't passing him in the stretch. This is because he actually was able to help his horses get to the wire. He, thus, was able to 'race ride'; as he could back it up when it counted. Jocks that can't finish with octogenarians (like Borel) really should just stick to riding 'normally'. Saving ground should be their top priority as they really can't make up for any ground loss late.

I never inteneded to suggest that I bet on Persistently-I passed the race

And, I was quite aware of the irony of me speaking to such folks in the only language they seem to understand

I'll apologize for my equally emotionally charged, juvenile remarks, though. I should look at a horse race wagering environment as an adult venue. As when I'm in a bar or nightclub, I should notexpect or even want Catholic school manners, nor ask them not to smoke, make crude jokes, etc

I stand corrected, Princess Doreen

gotta love seeing those silks cross the line first. mr phipps hasn't been in great health lately, and he's pushing 70 now i think....glad he got another personal ensign under his belt. the sport could use a few more like him, instead of some of these other owners.
