Scuds

Are you shocked Beltre is able to hit .330 for almost 300 AB with the Red Sox given he couldn't hit a consistent .280 his last half dozen years with the Dodgers....it isn't a contract, the Sox paid the guy.

While playing for Seattle, STATS SHOULDN'T BE TAKEN(ESPECIALLY OFFENSIVE ONES.) There is something very wrong up there. No, I am not surprised he's doing well. I never wanted to let him go in 04/05. We had a horrible year after letting him go. If he was playing in L.A., he'd be doing great, too.

SCUDSBROTHER 06-23-2010 10:38 PM

Doc, remember one thing. Adrian is totally unproven in the post. I mean it can't be good (whatever his stats are in the post.)

Ouch that was a very nice comeback by the kids against arguably the best NL starter. Pap has had this problem for a while this season Bard is pitching better 8 th's than JP is in the 9th. That one hurt....

Yea, he's not as good as he was. I wouldn't expect him to be very forthcoming about why that is.

Okay I admit it......I have a full blown man crush on this kid. He looks good striking out with how fast he clears his hips with his approach at the plate. Why was it so hard for this kid to get noticed. He may turn into the position player version of Billy Rohr or David Clyde but he is certainly more by the day than expected and it is fun to watch.

To be fair Jimenez got roughed up pretty good tonight. The guy can hit. But dont forget he is 27 already. It is still ridiculously early to determine how good he will be. Trying to accurately evaluate a guy after less than 40 AB's can be fool's gold. He also is going to have to do something about 1 BB and 8 k's in 31 AB's ratio.

Again it is still a small sample size. But he played in two of the toughest hitters parks in LA and Seattle and now he plays in one of the better ones. I doubt he eventually hits more than .290 when the season is done.

He sure isnt the pitcher he was in 2007 anymore.

Jimenez was just getting over the flu bug he had for a couple of days.

Kid takes his first collar hitting out of the two hole now, 0 for 3 with 2 BB's and a run scored. Nothing like Tito turning up the pressure by the day. I was impressed with how selective he is from both sides but so much for the 10 game hit streak to start a career.

Antitrust32 06-29-2010 09:42 AM

Sorry man, Kendrick has a 6.04 ERA in his last four starts, and with Happ ready to join the team again, Kendrick probably pitched his last game as a rotation guy. I'm sure he'll get a start here or there filling in for a guy.

I'm just wondering if they will put KK in the bullpen or send him to AAA so he can continue to start games. Right now I believe Figgy is our long man, him and Kendrick are probably similar.. I say Kendrick is sent down to AAA.

Antitrust32 06-29-2010 01:37 PM

can KK play 2nd or 3rd?? Utley & Polanco to the DL... ugh :zz:

What I miss. I go on my honeymoon and come back and see a complete game win against the Pirates and a 7 inning 1 run game against the Reds. Era now under 4.5......First time in a long time he put 2 starts consistently together, I admit...We will see.

Cane my man. Cane...Nope. They actually train seeing eye dogs near me. Fun to see them practicing. I have to remind myself not to ask to pet them. Hard to do.

At that level he was a .294/.364/.492. He had a 15/43 BB/K ratio there in 220Ab's. I would say if he hits .270/.320./.400 he will have a nice career as a 4th OF type somewhere but he isnt good enough to stick in Boston.

This weeks roto geek Nava article depicting him as the #1 selection on the "All Joy" team.

At least someone else is smitten by this kid who is hitting just North of .300 with a bunch of doubles and RBI's but too many K's

That was written in January. While Nava even being the bigs is due to an unusually high number of injuries to Red Sox outfielders, it nonetheless looks like a nice call by the author.

Phillies optioned RHP Kyle Kendrick to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Monday's seven-run drubbing against the Cardinals was the last straw. Kendrick will head to the Triple-A level having posted a 5-4 record, a 4.82 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP over 108 1/3 big-league innings (18 starts). The Phillies have called up Andrew Carpenter to take Kendrick's place.

wow... I thought for sure that Kendrick would stay in the rotation until Happ got back.. but for Carpenter?

Kendrick has a decent slider, basically his only good pitch. When he hits his spots and throws low, he's an alright pitcher.

His problem is consistancy. The word is not in his vocabulary. I will admit I was really pissed last night when he gave up 3 home runs in one inning.

Trade may be brewing...

No way that Carpenter is being called up to be a starter long term

Kendricks problem is that he simply doesnt have much stuff. He made it this far with one pitch which is pretty amazing really. If the sinker aint sinking he has nothing else that can get major leagers out and you see outings like last nights where he was throwing 84mph pitches right down the middle.

There was something clutch about the kid that may yet be something to build on but to be honest the guys who played when he sat didn't impress much either. I'll be surprised if he's had his last AB in the show.

He will probably wind up sticking somewhere as a 4th or 5th outfielder type because he can hit.

Just when all hope was lost.....

Moyer headed to DL with elbow injury, Phillies to recall Kendrick, Happ

randallscott35 07-24-2010 07:25 PM

Wait did he just beat the best pitcher in the major leagues today? Yes that would be correct. WOW

I was there (sweating my balls off), but Jimenez was just brutal. Couldn't find the zone (looked like both pitchers were being squeezed) and was falling behind everyone. Then he would put it over the plate and get hammered. Then after the Phills big 7 run inning which seemed like it took about an hour with the Rocks melting out in the field, it seemed like they mailed it in from there on in.
But I guess Kendrick deserves some credit, he did pitch well and never was in any serious trouble.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-10-2010 07:09 PM

Even the Dodgers are hitting Kendrick a lil bit.

LOL...I love that play tonite at 2nd base. That looked pretty funny. Rollins n' Kendrick combining on a definite funny.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-10-2010 07:15 PM

Was that a sac fly (to right field) produced with no outs and the bases loaded? OMG, somebody actually did their job.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-10-2010 07:17 PM

This guy has a great name. Any excuse to say "Bastard" is appreciated.
