I'm moving up nicely now. Watch out Phil :D

SCUDSBROTHER 06-17-2010 12:46 PM

They don't have Wild Cards, or Captain's picks? They could have used a way to get the gangsta Turks into this boring thing.

Great to see - They need a helping hand now to qualify

slotdirt 06-17-2010 04:51 PM

They don't need a helping hand - they need a miracle.

Done. Quite sad that they are getting hammered by a country with 2 million people (give or take).

Germans in my office are now laughing at us...payback for the **** we gave them this morning.

Coach Pants 06-18-2010 10:39 AM

Oh f.uck yeah

brianwspencer 06-18-2010 10:44 AM

And excellent -- the ****ing likely game winner gets called back for no reason at all.

MaTH716 06-18-2010 10:55 AM

Unbelieveable comeback.....Should have won the F'n if it wasn't for that bulls.hit offsides call.

Coach Pants 06-18-2010 10:59 AM

Go Algeria!

slotdirt 06-18-2010 11:25 AM

Why does this ref-ing nonsense always happen to us? Italy 2006, that crap today. How that guy was left with a whistle in his hand for a World Cup game is beyond me. He'd only been the official for a single major competition once in his entire career!

Does anybody really know what the call was on the Edu "goal?" It couldn't have been offsides, and if it was on Bradley himself, it is quite clearly one of the worst calls in the history of sports.

Antitrust32 06-18-2010 12:43 PM

how was that not a goal at the end? I dont know much about soccer rules but that sure looked like a goal to me!

slotdirt 06-18-2010 01:12 PM

Wynalda says the ref was bribed and asks for an investigation. He's a nut, but he's got a couple points. How many USA free kick opportunities were almost immediately whistled down?

Doesn't the linesman call the offsides?

slotdirt 06-18-2010 01:21 PM

That's the thing, it wasn't called offsides after all. In fact, per Donovan, nobody knows what the call was. Grant Wahl at SI says it was Edu, but that can't be the case since Edu literally didn't touch a soul in route to scoring the goal.

There's a replay on yahoo.com's front page that shows the play from seventeen different angles, and the linesman's flag never goes up, so the linesman had nothing to do with the play. The angle from behind the play that shows the ref shows he's blowing his whistle before Edu even touches the ball. I think FIFA should definitely be opening an invesigation of this - this is way more egregious than the Ireland-France Henry handball incident.

Coach Pants 06-18-2010 03:22 PM

Win and in.

Bigsmc 06-18-2010 03:32 PM

From The Sun:

"Substitute Maurice Edu bundled the ball home from a free-kick — but referee Koman Coulibaly ruled the goal out for pushing when it seemed Slovenian defenders were the only players doing the shoving."

no it isnt

while i agree that it was a ridiculous decision, there are tons of players pushing and shoving each other on every set piece and the ref just has to see one to blow up.. as coach said, win and youre through -that shouldnt be hard

ddthetide 06-19-2010 05:10 PM

espn played the USA game on the radio. that had to be the worst radio i've ever heard. soccer sucks enough but that constant buzzing in the background even made the pregame unlistenable.:wf

Coach Pants 06-20-2010 08:14 AM

This is hilarious

Bigsmc 06-20-2010 09:29 AM

Italian dive.....

hi_im_god 06-20-2010 12:17 PM

best soccer dives

weird list. contains an amateur game and inexplicably a basketball game but i thought #1 and #3 were worthy enough.

Bigsmc 06-20-2010 03:20 PM

The dive by the Ivory Coastan(?) to get Kaka his second yellow belongs on that list. Kaka never touched the guy's face and he went down like he just caught a Mike Tyson hook to the nose.

Disgraceful.

yes it was an utter disgrace - the referee had a howler tonight - missed 2 clear handballs by luis fabiano for the 2nd goal missed two horrific tackles by the Ivory Coast players which deserved red cards and then sends Kaka off for nothing..

Divers are Wankers!!

brockguy 06-22-2010 01:40 PM

Bye Bye France :-)

If England get sent packing tomorrow it will be brilliant!!
