Thanks Doc. Chalky finish there (which is amazing in itself) but will take it.

Nice job Rude, you were spot on with your analysis of the 7th. Way to nail it and then bring home the quad too.

GPK 12-17-2009 07:01 PM

Well done Dan. Almost $700 for $2 for those chalks in the last 3 is awfully good.

Lovely Lacey Lou may get lost in the wagering next out finishing off the board, but put in a solid rally off a fair pace in the last - one to keep an eye on... On to Friday ;)

I needed your boy Butler today in the 6th for the last leg of a pick 3. Was coming back $1600 for a buck. Runs DFL of course...

not at all , you obviously have a good handle of the track , my definition of sharp might be different than yours

i guess maybe you could clear up some mis-conceptions that i have been given by some otb players in ny

1)takeout - i know that it has improved but doesn't TBD have higher rates compared to other venues

2)purses - low purses - how can jockeys make an honest living when the purse sizes are low ....weren't a few of the major jocks suspend a few yrs ago for fixing?

3)pool size - i guess related to top 2 points , and , i really have limited knowledge of this but on a given day when CRC/GP and AQU are going is the pool size the same as the majors or is it less than them and by what %

Again $$$$ is $$$$ dan and you can cap with the best of them at TBD and the winners you pick there and cash in on bring home the bacon , just trying to get some info about the place . I know someone who just play FInger Lakes in NY and does well ther becuse there are a lot of bad fav's. It seem to me that in addition to getting some prices in you are very adapt at knowing the bad fav's which in my opinon is the way to make some nice scores

That was a tall order for a conditioned claimer but certainly not impossible here.

Just bustin your chops.. To answer your questions,

1) The take out was higher, but has been lowered this year:
WPS pools is 17.5%, doubles 18%, horizontals 19%, exactas 20.5% and tris and supers 25.9%. That's not bad.

2) They banned 6 or 7 of them from the track as a result of what the TRPB deemed "irregular betting patterns" at Del Park Simulcast. The incident didn't even occur at Tampa, they all just happened to be here for the winter. As far as I know, they are still investigating it and none of them are back.

The purses are what they are - we have an compact in place with the Indians as a result of the Bible Thumpers consistently cockblocking the slots referendum, so we'll never see Racino type purses here. It is no different at Calder and only a little better at Gulfstream. If the jockeys felt they had a bitch coming to them, they are more than welcome to spend the winter at Beulah Park.

3) The pool sizes are fine relative to similar tracks. They set an opening day record handle this year. Losing Tuesday racing is dumb and will hurt, but there is simply no comparison between TBD and Finger Lakes

Dan

thx not to ask you too many q's

my comaparison to finger lakes is only because i am from ny

NYRA big brother , FL Little sister in NY

i guess it's not the same in Florida as Tampa is close to being on par with CRC and GP

The first one was just a horrible race. 5K N2Y. The horse has won here before, had won 3 races back with a Beyer that exceeded the Beyer par (granted over a sloppy track). There were certainly better horses in the race on paper, but again it was a crapfest - any of them could have stumbled across the wire first. He should have been closer to the 20-1 m/l but still, I didn't use and wouldn't use if I bet the race 100 times...

The second one absolutely - In fact, Fantini and Herkhorse were live in the P4 with him. Though he looked off form coming in from Suffolk, the horse had two sub 49 works over the track. That is lightning quick for that class of horse and the track was favoring speed. Anything running for conditioned 8 that can work that quick is an include - I missed it, but could definitely see my mistake
