Actually I guess I should've said she was that far away from having 16, too.

Rachel's a shoo-in if healthy.

Just found it crazy how close Megahertz came to having 10, let alone many many more.

I got her at 8, the Sunshine Millions didn't count. But regardless yeah no one seemed to like her.

Trivia Question 3.

There have been six different horses to win 3 or more Graded Stakes in North America on a synthetic track AND have never been defeated in a graded stake on a synthetic track.

Four of the six run on Breeders Cup Day:

Zenyatta (10 for 10)

Informed Decision (5 for 5)

Zensational (3 for 3)

Looking at Lucky (3-for-3)

Name the other two.

One is pretty easy ... I will be surprised if the other is got quickly.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-03-2009 12:30 PM

Check the edit.

I meant never defeated in a graded stake on a synthetic track.

This is what it read. A Grade II event open to fillies and Mares, age three and older, it is contested on dirt over a distance of seven furlongs.

Lost twice on synthetic.

Oops, I misunderstood -- Pamplemousse hasn't won enough, but hasn't been defeated in a graded stakes race.

I missed that part, I thought it was undefeated entirely on it.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-03-2009 12:58 PM

I'm pretty shocked one has yet to be named. She would certainly rate as the 2nd best female synthetic router of all-time. The other one is impossible.

Yep for Noshaba's Key. The other one is Dearest Trickski. She was 3-for-3 in Graded Stakes on synthetic ... she also won a Sunshine Million sprint race on synthetic - though that wasn't graded. The Filly and Mare Sprint was not graded last year.. she was crushed in that.

She was once claimed for 10K, 12.5K, and 32K.

Nope. The breeders cup.

She was beaten soundly by Panty Raid in the Spinster.

brianwspencer 11-03-2009 01:17 PM

Well this has been a productive use of my day so far.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-03-2009 01:23 PM

Final trivia question.

There were 8 different horses in the 90's to win 12 North American Graded Stakes or more. Six were female and two were male. Name them.

the two males are easy- Skip Away and Cigar.

the females are much tougher, although I know Silverbulletday is one of them.

How's that work, getting claimed once for three prices?

Highest bidder?

philcski 11-03-2009 01:37 PM

Paseana

The Indomitable DrugS 11-03-2009 01:39 PM

No for Cigar - he only had 11.

Yes for Skip Away (16) Silverbulletday (13) and Sky Beauty (13)

I just checked and count 13 for Cigar, am I wrong on a grading somewhere? Mass Cap not graded those years or something?

1994 NYRA Mile
1995 Gulfstream Park Hcp
1995 Donn Hcp
1995 Oaklawn Hcp
1995 Pimlico Special
1995 Hollywood Gold Cup
1995 Mass Cap
1995 Woodward
1995 JCGC
1995 BCC
1996 Donn
1996 Mass Cap
1996 Woodward

The Indomitable DrugS 11-03-2009 01:48 PM

Yep - the Mass Cap's weren't graded.

yup, just looked up the Mass Cap history and it wasn't run between 1990-1994, obviously losing its grade. They brought it back specifically to lure Cigar.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-03-2009 01:56 PM

same thing with that Citation race at Arlington. He really should have 3 extra.

Best Pal should have an extra as well ... the Pacific Classic wasn't graded for him when he won it.

Antitrust32 11-03-2009 01:58 PM

Sharp Cat? or did we already cover the females?

The Indomitable DrugS 11-03-2009 02:00 PM

Yep. Sharp Cat is the last one of the 8. The only one of the 8 to not win a championship I believe.
