Russell sucked again yesterday. This isn't a bad team, but Russell is a big negative IMO.

Sniper!!!!!!
Are you in the witness protecton program. My offer is still on the table and I 'll lower it to 7 with 7 being a push.

Check out JaMarcus at number 30. He is not only the worst QB in the league, he may be heading for the worst season by a QB ever.

The Indomitable DrugS 09-28-2009 03:52 AM

He is beyond brutal when he has to throw it more than 12 yards downfield. I thought he might just be a big dope who's a slow learner... so much for any projected improvement.

McFadden was a freak out of the Wildcat in college ... I'd mix a traditional offense with Russell handing off to Bush and Fargas a lot and mixing in short passes ... with McFadden running the wildcat.

It's amazing how well the Fins run the wildcat with Pennington lined up at reciever ... Jamarcus Russell looks like an elite NFL tight end and throws like one from an accuracy standpoint.

docicu3 09-28-2009 08:35 AM

A classic case of the million dollar arm complemented by the the 2 cent head. He probably can launch it 80 yards but can't complete the swing pass to a wide open back if his life depended on it. One of Al's best draft selections ever....The Pat's love Al and Al loves them right back..

dagolfer33 09-28-2009 09:37 PM

Third game in a row. Russell sucks. Any questions?

Coach Pants 09-29-2009 02:28 PM

Q. What do you call 47 millionaires around a TV watching the Super Bowl?
A. The Oakland Raiders .

Q. What do the Raiders and Rick Warren have in common?
A. They both can make 90,000 people stand up and yell 'Jesus Christ'.

Q. How do you keep the Oakland Raiders out of your yard?
A. Put up a goal post.

Q. Where do you go in Oakland in case of a tornado?
A. To the Coliseum - they never have a touchdown there!

Q. What do you call an Oakland Raider with a Super Bowl ring?
A. A thief.

Q. Why does Obama want to send Raider QB Jamarcus Russell to Venezuela?
A. The CIA are convinced he's the only American who can overthrow Hugo Chavez.

Q. What's the difference between the Raiders and a dollar bill?
A. You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill.

Q. What do the Raiders and possums have in common?
A. Both play dead at home and get killed on the road.

Cannon Shell 10-04-2009 05:54 PM

Another disgrace. How much longer can they keep him in there?

Cleveland played fairly well today. St Louis is hopeless. Oakland could win 4 or 5 with a QB that wasnt subhuman. I have no idea what is the matter with Tenn. Tampa, Wash and Detroit suck too.

dagolfer33 10-04-2009 11:22 PM

As I have posted since week 1, will anyone be willing to stand up for Jamarcus Russell now.....................I dont think anyone is going to. HE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Crown@club 10-22-2009 02:54 PM

Love the comments:

Raider QB JaMarcus Russell actually had moments where there was some
poise, which is a step forward. He had some good throws, but he’s teased
us in the past
. In the grand scheme of things, he’s still not improving.

The Indomitable DrugS 10-22-2009 03:15 PM

The Raiders had a serious pass rush going in the game they almost beat San Diego ... and they had a serious pass rush going in the Philly win.

I think the KC win was a road win for them. With competent qb play - they aren't a complete joke anymore.

That's the problem though, he's so far from competent is isn't even funny. When I said they could win some games this year I knew Russell was bad but underestimated how truly awful he is. With just a bad QB I think they could have been a solid team this year. With Russell they have to play exceptional everywhere else to overcome his awfulness.

Agreed...........Some of us had a better read of Russell and the back QB situation that's why we were so surprised by your win total prediction. That being said Coach Pants loves the 49ers this year and I don't think their QB play will take them very far either.

I'm as big a Russell basher as there is but I had no clue he could possibly be as bad as he is. There is bad for the NFL and then there is just plain bad which you rarely see at that level. The amazing thing is with that schedule this team is 7-9 at worst and possibly contending for the playoffs if they had just gone with Jeff Garcia at QB. But as Al Davis put it to Lane Kiffin: “I realized that you did not want to draft JaMarcus Russell. He is a great player. Get over it.”

I think they have a better shot of getting throttled the next 2 weeks. They can beat KC at home, Cleveland on the road, Washington at home but thats probably it

With Russell they could lose every game. The Jets are pretty terrible and without Jenkins they are even worse. I know Woody got injured against the Bills but haven't checked his status to see if he will be back. You are giving them three games and I think they probably win one more randomly. So think about that, we all know Russell is terrible and yet the Raiders could easily go 6-10 with him. They would be contending for the playoffs with Garcia.

SniperSB23 10-22-2009 10:54 PM

I should add that the fact that Garcia does not have a job is mindboggling. The Tampa Bay Bucs this year are clearly in the ten worst teams I have seen in my lifetime. Yet somehow with Garcia at QB last year they went 9-7. I bet at least 12 teams in the NFL would be better off with Garcia at QB.

I wasnt giving them those games, just pointing the ones that they had a better than 50% chance of winning. They will undoubtedly lose one of those three. As bad as Russell is it wasnt like the games against the Giants, Houston or Denver would have been wins with Johnny Unitas at QB.

Raiders coach Tom Cable said he spoke to Jamarcus Russell about why he was benched and the quarterback understands now.

Russell refused to take responsibility for his play after the Week 7 loss to the Jets. But Cable pointed out how Russell had a mental lapse on the very first play of the game and made two horrible decisions on interceptions. The Raiders are going back to Russell this week for more torture.Source: Oakland Tribune

Al Davis finally has a coach after his own heart......they both want to torture the sh!t out of lifelong Raiders fans.

Cable isn't a coach he is Davis's puppet. He does what he is told, that's why Russell starts and he has a job. Kiffin told Davis that Russell sucked and he had no chance to succeed if he played him. Davis told him to play him anyway. Kiffin said he didn't want to it was hopeless and he was soon fired for insubordination.

I believe his actual quote was "He is great, get over it"

Cable-"Russell, you suck but we dont have any other options right now."

Russell - "Uh ok coach. I still get paid right?"

Cable- "Remember Mr. Davis did try to weasel out of a contract with his last coach. That's why I had to clock that asst coach. To intimidate Al a little. He wasnt scared of that whiny Kiffen."

Russell - "So I should take a swing at somebody?"

Cable- "Don't bother, JaMarcus as inaccurate as you have been you'll surely miss"

Russell- "Do we play Tulane? I always played pretty good against them."

Cable- "Sorry we couldnt get them this year. Something about us weakening their strength of schedule??"

Russell- "Where are we ranked anyway?"

Cable-"Well I think we are about 28th."

Russell -"Does that get us a bowl bid?"

Cable punches himself.

And the Comedy continues!!!

JaMarcus Russell said after Sunday's loss to San Diego that he was pleased with his 109-yard passing effort.

"I did a pretty good job," he said. Russell took five sacks, fumbled, threw an interception, averaged under five yards per pass attempt, and completed two passes for 16 yards to his wide receivers.

As terrible as he is it is tough to not feel some sympathy for him when you see the play that the two receivers tripped over each other:

Russell will be working @ Home Depot in Alabama in 2 years.

dagolfer33 11-23-2009 12:34 AM

Amazingly and somewhat coincidentally, Gradkowski starts in place of Russell and the Raiders beat one of the best teams in the NFL.

herkhorse 11-23-2009 06:45 AM

I don't follow the Raiders that close. How long has Uncle Fester been their coach?
