He'd win a 10 year exemption on the PGA Tour if he wins this...it would be interesting to see if he takes the exemption and quits the senior tour

letswastemoney 07-18-2009 05:25 PM

It's too bad Tiger didn't make the weekend....as it would look surreal to see both Woods and Watson on the leaderboard next to each other.

herkhorse 07-18-2009 06:07 PM

This is great. I hope like hell he can pull it off. My mom is 79 (still golfing) and will be glued to the TV tomorrow. What he's already done is unreal, but man if he could win this thing, :tro:

You can do both. He doesn't have to quit the senior tour.

herkhorse 07-19-2009 11:43 AM

Watson may be the last one standing, nerves of steel.

:tro: go Tom go

herkhorse 07-19-2009 11:53 AM

awesome par right there

geeker2 07-19-2009 12:05 PM

if he can birdie on 17 and it could be over...

herkhorse 07-19-2009 12:08 PM

How amazing is this.

geeker2 07-19-2009 12:14 PM

Westwood has made some great shots...

just go off the tee box Tom..... YES!!!!

herkhorse 07-19-2009 12:18 PM

He looks like a rock, but he HAS to be churning inside.

geeker2 07-19-2009 12:21 PM

He powered that one thru the green.....putt downhill leave it close..par putt..and its over

herkhorse 07-19-2009 12:22 PM

I like the putter

herkhorse 07-19-2009 12:22 PM

ouch

docicu3 07-19-2009 12:24 PM

Of course it would come down to a 10 foot putt.......lets play on.

geeker2 07-19-2009 12:26 PM

SH^T

Bigsmc 07-19-2009 12:27 PM

That broke my heart. I don't ever remember rooting so hard for someone to make a putt.

Coach Pants 07-19-2009 12:28 PM

Gah! This is killing me.

herkhorse 07-19-2009 12:30 PM

I think Cink has the edge here, but I hope not.

geeker2 07-19-2009 12:34 PM

When Cink gets his putter going he is tough...he made a great putt on 18.

Absolutely he has the edge. He's coming into the playoff off a birdie and is riding high. Watson has got to shake the image of that horrible putt and move on.

Oh and he's 23 years younger and that much less tired.

And yes I saw him into the bunker before I posted this so no points for that

I don't see it as being that obvious. I'll take Watson's head and heart over Cink's all day long.

docicu3 07-19-2009 12:58 PM

Here's the shot of the playoff for Watson right here...cmon ole boy.

Bigsmc 07-19-2009 01:03 PM

What a putt/par. Kept himself in it there.

Bigsmc 07-19-2009 01:08 PM

By the way, how about the 16 yr old Italian, Matteo Manassero finishing tied for 13th?

I can't imagine how bad I would've choked if I were inside the ropes of a major at 16.

That was serious....

I will say I have never seen a pro hit such a bad putt like on 18. That was '24' esqe

That was horrible. I have to believe that it shook him up a bit for this playoff.

herkhorse 07-19-2009 01:10 PM

find that ball!

Bigsmc 07-19-2009 01:12 PM

He tried to bite off too much. Should've gone straight out to the fairway.

letswastemoney 07-19-2009 01:17 PM

Stewart Cink = most boring British Open champion ever

Boring how? You want him to sing and dance?

herkhorse 07-19-2009 01:20 PM

What a f-n bummer, and to lose it on your trademark achilles' heel is going to make it a lot worse. Hell of a run, thanks Tom:tro:

He earned it.

Coach Pants 07-19-2009 01:33 PM

It sucks to hand the championship to a certified choker. God damnit.
