Results after Day 2

Firstly, I have fixed No Chances score from Day 1. It should now read as +240.75 rather than +163.75. Some more good performances today from the pacesetters, it should set up to be a brilliant last few days. And remember, a big exacta can shoot you to the moon so there are no lost causes..

Position / Name / Score Today / Total Score
1. Bigs +490 +1773.67
2. Viscount +337.5 +1479.58
3. No Chance +474.5 +715.25

Awful day for many of us, but not Bigs!

Still not got any idea what Johnny Murtagh was doing keeping with that insane pace in the hampton court. Freemantle had no chance keeping with that pace. Look where Big Bound finished after making that stupid early pace!

Radiohead very impressive considering what happened in the Norfolk. How far would he have won with a clear run????

Nothing yet. Two days to go...

I would like to thank the Stews for leaving Glass Harmonium up.

NoChanceToDance 06-18-2009 02:01 PM

From now on it's a case of throwing caution to the wind trying to win this. I'm taking on Aegean tomorrow, at 15/8 I just cannot have her. Ward is saying she is the best thing since sliced bread, but fact is, she is taking on fillies proven at this trip and if she is ridden with the same tactics as the others, she will be swallowed up in the final furlong.

Here goes nothing

2.30 Albany (Gr3)
Chachamaidee (alt She's A Character), Lillie Langtry (alt Above Limits)

3.05 King Edward VII (Gr2)
South Easter (alt Black Bear Island), Father Time (alt Native Ruler)

3.45 Coronation (Gr1)
Elusive Wave (alt Again), Ghanaati (alt Heart Shaped)

4.20 Wolferton Handicap
Perfect Stride (alt Stone Of Scone), Halicarnassus (alt Salute Him)

4.55 Queen's Vase (Gr3)
Popmurphy (NAP) (alt Stately Home), Dhushan (alt Yankee Doodle)

5.30 Buckingham Palace Handicap
Musaalem (alt Seasider), Mutheeb (alt Redford)

It's going to take a minor miracle for any of us to catch you now. Glass Harmonium has seemingly improved no end after getting stuffed behind Freemantle last time. I'm still fuming after Johnny Murtagh was intent on chasing that silly speed early and still being good enough to finish about fifth

day four and five Royal Ascot

This has been an education that's for sure!

I was able to watch Tuesday and I was very impressed. Ascot looks wonderful. The UK is always so green compared to the Central Valley in Cali.

Race 2 -free agent, native ruler ……….alternate: changing of the guard
Race 3 -ghanaati, chintz ………..alternate: rainbow view
Race 4 -kingdom of fife, drumfire …………..alternate: australia day
Race 5 - NAP sabotage, stately home……..alternate:dhushan
Race 6 -drawnfromthe past, mutheeb ………alternate: al muheer

Saturday
Race 1 -step in time, emperor cladius …… alternates: layali al andalus
Race 2 -campanologist, tajaaweed……….alternate: enroller
Race 3 - j j the jet plane, kings apostle ………..alternate: ialysos
Race 4 - high standing, thebes …………..alternate: knot in wood

Hope to try this again next year.

Most of us struggled through today - It was a difficult day and didnt bet that much thankfully. Great to see Yeats win his 4th Gold Cup though - a remarkable achievement.

I was very close to including Montaff, but I just can't trust Channon anymore. Halicarnassus is the boy I can trust, though, I can't see him out of the frame tomorrow, but Perfect Stride is back at his happy hunting ground and I've long held the opinion he's been waiting for this step up in trip to show his very best.

Results after Day 4

The two locals trying to make a move. Funny how the only race I didnt bet on today was the one I hit the exacta for over £60! Typical.. Anyway, one more day to go, a 16-1 NAP could come in handy tomorrow. All set for fireworks..

My laptop would decide to throw in a shocker when the final day means so much (when it comes to trying to overhaul a yank winning an English competition :D )

Anyway, I'm making use of the public library in Newmarket........ wow, not been here in a while!

2.30 Chesham (listed)
Aerodynamic (alt Shakesperean), Beethoven (alt Step In Time)

3.05 Hardwicke (Gr2)
Doctor Freemantle (alt Tajaaweed), Campanogolist (alt Enroller)..... If I don't hit the exacta here there is something wrong!

3.45 Golden Jubilee (Gr1)
J J The Jet Plane (alt Ialysos), Sacred Kingdom (alt King's Apostle)

4.25 Wokingham
Genki (alt Nota Bene), Jimmy Styles (alt High Standing)

5.00 Duke Of Edinburgh
Martyr (alt Hatton Flight), Road To Love (alt Young Mick)

5.30 Queen Alexandra
Amerigo (NAP) (alt Halla San), Tyrrells Wood, (alt Tasheba)

For what it's worth, I found it very difficult to choose which one to NAP today. Everyone knows how much I love J J, but 7/2 in such a good race means there is little value, Aerodynamic was my nap until I changed my mind. Pat Eddery thinks he is very good!

However, Amerigo will love this extreme trip and should be too good in the last.

brockguy 06-20-2009 05:21 AM

last days picks -

1. Beethoven, Emperor Claudius, alt Honor in Peace

2. Enroller, Doctor Freemantle alt Bronze Cannon

3. The Hong Kong Bomb, The Jet alt, The Greek Freak

4. Knot in Wood, Beaver Patrol alt Asset

5. Young Mick NAP, Yellowstone alt Pires

6. Bulwark, Halla San, alt Amerigo

Best of luck fellas..

NoChanceToDance 06-20-2009 11:52 AM

Well, I wish I hadn't have bothered today. Awful awful day from my point of view.

I just spotted two very nice exactas from you two handicapping experts. It's been a great performance from both Bigs and Viscount. Well done guys!

What can be said about Me and Brock....... well, I think "don't give up the day job" comes to mind. Often as my school report said "could do better"

It's been a fantastic week of racing and it was brilliant to see two American winners, I hope we can see some more American trainers come over next year, the more the merrier.

Disappointed with JJ today, he kept on well for fourth, which is nothing to be ashamed about I suppose. Something like the July Cup could be the race to suit him a bit better with a real stiff finish.

Once again, well done Bigs and Viscount. Two very nice exactas picked out today and it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top.

FINAL ROYAL ASCOT RESULTS

Firstly, thanks all for playing. It was great fun and a tremendous week. 7 or 8 years ago, I had probably my most horrific days betting at Royal Ascot on my first ever visit there. Yesterday pretty much rivaled it. Anyway, enough about me and congratulations to Bigs who had another brilliant day nailing the exacta in the ultra competitive 26 runner Wokingham paying £106.5 for £1. He has been as solid as a rock all week and he is now rivaling Wes Ward as my favourite American! Honourable mention to Ian who also has a solid week picking plenty of winners. Hopefully, please God, we'll all be around next year for Royal Ascot 2010..
