He's GREAT at beating up on the likes of Joy Scott.

C'mon. That guy's been the hammer in Northern Cali for decades. I refuse to believe he's not every bit the jockey that Prado, Gomez, or Dominguez are (or pick any ace out there). He wins a third of his races and has consistantly for years!

MaTH716 06-05-2009 11:23 PM

Good Luck guys here in the last leg.

Over the years he has ridden meets in SoCal and usually finished below the top name guys.

There is a reason he doesn't get Derby/BC mounts.

There has to be a reason for that (probably not getting the pick of the best mounts like in NoCal), but as far as being a [i]horseman[i]... he may be equaled by the best, but surpassed? Still haven't figured out the italics feature on this thing.

Ronnie 06-05-2009 11:34 PM

Way to go on that 2, thanks for the second look guys.

dean smith 06-05-2009 11:35 PM

Ah... Maybe you guys are right. But mark my words, when I get a horse in the Derby, if DeShawn Parker won't return my calls, I'm dialing up Russell next!

MaTH716 06-05-2009 11:36 PM

Great Job Point/Pmac congrats.
Sorry Rude. Get them in the late quad.

3kings 06-05-2009 11:37 PM

There are a lot of solid horses in the race. I've got my eggs in Silent Stalk's basket, but wouldn't be surprised to see Ultra Blend, Fastongrass, or Oui Say Oui take this one.

For some reason I also thought Strawberry Tart was interesting but I can't remember why now.

Paying $154. There's $24k in the pool, therefore approximately 125 live $2 tickets after takeout, so Point's ticket means it's paying about $14 less than it would have if he didn't play :D :D Get this beast home!

Put in a good effort, thought Espinoza was a little closer to the pace than I would have liked here. I did not see that 6 here.

It all depends how you think the race is going to set up. Take this last race at Hollywood. I thought that there was a ton of pace in it. I looked at the 7 and 8 being able to come from behind and pick up the pieces. But guess what they both went near the lead and one of the horses that I thought was going to be on the lead dropped back and closed like a frieght train.
But there are so many variables.

So, you basically approach the race the same as you would on dirt?

pmacdaddy 06-06-2009 12:14 AM

Saving my bullets for Belmont tomorrow. Should be a fun day.

The weather forecast seems too good to be true (Sunny and 75) considering how miserable it has been here. Still pissing rain outside on Long Island right now...

Good luck rest of the way!

It's a shame I didn't find Strawberry Tart interesting enough to bet on.
