Thnx I thought the 8 won also...glad he didn't. I had Starlarks on my horsewatch (more specifically since she finished a troubled 7th on the downhill a few races back)

This might be the sorriest collection of dogs ever assembled in one race. A first-timer whose sire has a 4% first-time win rate and a trainer with a 0% winning percentage for the year is the 9/5 ML favorite.

9/5!

dean smith 05-30-2009 08:00 PM

...and she probably IS the most logical!

I'm not that good at photoshop or that sick for that matter.

I feel sick about missing Hollywood last night, Math. I've got two kids under the age of two and in the process of putting them "night-nights" I feel asleep myself at 8 p.m. When I woke up at 4 a.m. I felt like I'd missed Christmas. I was looking forward to it all week.

Do you think Doug Shanyfelt is one of those cheatin' "super trainers" Beyer talks about? 41%... horses always seem to improve greatly under him.

Not trying to be snarky or sour grapes or anything. Just wondering if anyone knew his story. And I'm not trying to sell Samurai Prince short, either. He's winning at all distances and was the fav.

he has some good connections that he buys the horses outright that trainers like Frankel sell to get rid of. Dale Baird who passed last year would buy them in California and bring them in all the time, horses coming from the major tracks should improve here unless just been hurt and never regained any form or class.

Don't feel bad Dean I feel your pain, but there's always next week. Although after the night I had, I kind of wished I went to bed too. A couple of bad decisions coupled with Rosario not being able to close the deal for me in the fifth equaled a crappy night for me. If he can get that horse in at the worst I break even for the night.

dean smith 05-30-2009 09:14 PM

Wanna hear about pain? The other day when Byk hit the $1200 P4, I decided to use his picks (something I feel dirty about anyway), except I thought I'd shave a few entries here and there to bring it down to the $30 range. I shaved the 20/1 that hit in the fourth leg.

Now that's pain. Ah, well... they weren't my picks anyway. What kind of fraud would I have been; walking around telling everybody I hit it. Because I would have.
