O'Hare, couple miles, Midway...far, far away. Did you know that? Maybe Steve can pick you up. Cheaper to fly into Midway, but a 2 hour train(s) trip to AP. Definitely not worth drinking and driving.

Bigsmc 05-28-2009 12:30 PM

This race couldn't have come up at a worse time for me. Mrs. Bigs is the best, but this is a very tough one....

I haven't closed the book on the possibility of a Bigs sighting at AP Saturday, but it isn't looking good.

*edit* Check that, the ticket I was eyeballing just jumped considerably in price before I could set the hook. No chance now.

Heels1989 05-28-2009 12:32 PM

I was checking earlier and found the following:

American leaving Saturday AM from DCA (Reagen National) to O'Hare, returning on Sunday AM for $147 ROUNDTRIP.

Probably can't make this trip but wanted to share with those in the greater DC area who are considering a trip to Chicago this weekend.

Good price...I've been watching flights for the Million and the cheapest I have found is $249 roundtrip out of Richmond.

That's an incredible price. I wish I had not already made plans Saturday.

Neither is really that close..check a rate at Hotel Indigo- 1-847-359-6900 or if you really want save :$: , there is a Motel 6 next to the track that really isn't that bad.

Stayed there last year.........was very nice and slightly over $100.00......within walking distance and has a sports bar either in the building or very close. Can't make this trip, have a wedding Saturday which I would blow off, but my wife leaves for business in Holland Sunday morning and can't risk not getting back in time.

wac 05-28-2009 08:29 PM

My gosh i can't believe this. All you guys in the same place and there is no way i can make it. Damn id love to meet you guys as i know this will be a blast. Good luck to all going

booner 05-28-2009 09:59 PM

Wish I could make it also. After finally getting to see Arlington, I am dying to make it back. Saturday would have been a great day to see the track again and meet some of you.

Good luck to everyone and hope all have a good time!!!

chucklestheclown 05-28-2009 11:40 PM

Isn't there a hotel right next door? A Sheraton? Check the AP website, might get you a deal.

IrishofNDMan 05-28-2009 11:47 PM

A chance to meet some of the DT Crew and I can't make it, hopefully there is another get together later this summer at Arlington as I am going to for sure make it back atleast once more.

satan's twin 05-29-2009 08:29 AM

Wow! This sounds like a bash.

I'm flying in from Palwaukee Airport... Midway or O'Hara?

Do I take the subway, catch the "L "or get on a Greyhound bus to take me from the airport to Arlington Downs?

Are tickets still available through Mr. Byk's private secretary or should I go on Stub Hub?

I hear Mr. Kelly's is a good place to go to listen to jazz. Anyone been?

SuffolkGirl 05-29-2009 08:39 AM

Still scouring Kayak.com for cheap flights to O'Hare... Am VERY tempted to hop on over to AP for the day. What a day it would be seeing KNS and Colonel Klink run!

LOL

I can get a flight from CVG to ORD for $153 coming/returning the same day. Man that's tempting.

What are the times of the ORD flight?

You really need to make that happen

Rent a car or hook up with someone else flying in - Alamo car rental for the day, all in, is under $20 - beats working around the train and El schedule

South Beach Luv 05-29-2009 09:03 AM

If somebody is flying in an hour or two before post time into O'Hare and needs a ride let me know, it's on my way to AP.

Satan's Twin is being facetious... he lives about 2 minutes from Arlington. Palwaukee Airport is in Arlington Heights

That 7pm is a little tight, considering Klink is the last race, that would be rough...

-BT- 05-29-2009 10:08 AM

touchdown at o'hare at 830am sat morning, after that its a crapshoot

gonna stay until monday in hopes of making my first cubs game sunday night

-bt-

ddthetide 05-29-2009 11:20 AM

sounds like a great time but we'll have to sit this trip out. safe travels to all and get us a win picture!

Many Others 05-29-2009 01:08 PM

sounds like a real great time, and unfortunately gots family obligations also :( but will definitely be watching the track feed to try and catch a glimpse of the DeeTee party

-for future reference, could someone please tell me what would be the preferred location to stay at out of these two for an extended weekend in relation to catching the train up to Arlington??? Have a generous corporate discount is the only reason asking, actually the Indigo (can't remember the exact name, but mentioned above) sounded nice - am so dumb, there is a train up there, no???

Club Quarters, Wacker at Michigan
75 East Wacker Drive

Cub Quarters, Central Loop
111 West Adams Street

Edit: Question answered - THANK YOU, now hope get to use the information this summer !

wiphan 05-29-2009 01:20 PM

After swift negotiations with the better half I was able to find a way to clear my day on Sat to make it to AP. Looking forward to it.

SuffolkGirl 05-29-2009 04:26 PM

I'm in - see everyone tomorrow at AP

If anyone else is flying in and needs a ride, I'll get to ORD at around 9.30 am and have to head back for a 9 pm flight, send me a PM and I'd be happy to drive you out there.

Heels1989 05-29-2009 04:41 PM

Safe travels to all heading to AP tomorrow. Get our girl home safe and want to see big smiles in the winner's circle.
