De Cat went off as the favorite in the 4th and ran 3rd. So whoever scratched out cause of the off the turf is through to the next day.

Bankroll is all but meaningless in this contest. It's all about survival.

Or in this instance staying "afloat" :)

My picks for Saturday are:

Race 4) Scholastic (almost went with Silly me  )
Race 8) Pitched Perfectly (Name rings a bell for some reason..)
Race 9) Smart Enough

Best of luck to everyone still in.

I'm not so sure about that. With the three races each day (and only needing to show in one of them) and extra life-lines added each month, I think there will be more survivors at the end than prizes.

I think it's a kind of a double edged sword. Obviously you want to survive, but it's very tough to get out of a hole there. Just becuase it's usually a parade of chalk and then you find youself reaching at some possible price horses.

I'm not happy with the contest organizers, they will not accept/confirm my WarranT avatar.

Maybe they have a "NO DOUCHENOZZLE POLICY."

golfer 05-30-2009 09:19 AM

Admittedly, I've never made it to the end of either of the 2 contests, and once eliminated, have not paid attention. But I do remember seeing a bunch of the leaders getting taken out as the contest goes on. Survival is alot tougher than it may seem.

Using Scholastic, Bunker Hill, and Smart Enough today.

Monmouth Park question

Silly question for those of you who go to Monmouth park.. I will be in Union Beach this weekend for daughter's softball tournament. Want to try and catch some late races and the Belmont . Its been 20 years since I lived in the area, and I always remember the traffic on wkends. Does it make sense for me to go back out to the parkway and head south , or go down the rte 35/36 way ? Thx for any help. Sorry to highjack the thread.

I think it's a pick your poison situation. I'm guessing 35 might be your best bet. 36 will have you going through the thick of the beach scene including the Highlands which gets really congested. I'm not sure but I also think that there are a few roads that break off from 35 that might take you straight through Little Silver right on to Monmouth. Parkway might be an option but it depends on how long and how far it will take you to get back on it. Also depending on the time, shore traffic can be an issue (always take the local!).

jenroypa 06-03-2009 09:04 AM

thx Matt..

Avoid the Rt 36 Highlands Bridge at all costs! They are doing major construction there and weekend traffic is unbelievable. Coming from UB I would take the GSP south to exit 109 (Red Bank) and take the back roads through Little Silver and Oceanport to the track. Feel free to PM me if you want detailed directions.
