Bel Late PK 4:

Anyone notice if the pools have been significantly inflated w/o Churchill or Hollywood running?

3-7-10 / 5-7 / ALL / 3-5 for $60
3-7 / 5 / 1-3 / 2-7-9 for $12

$72 play

Race 6 - #7 Cough Drop broke slowly and then made 2 moves into fast-paced closing fractions
Race 7 - #5 Spanish Fortune first time gelding for Clement hitting at 35%
Race 8 - buying this race, too contentious to leave any out
Race 9 #3 Chinese Whisper is the class with connections, Fortissi More is back with NY-breds after unsuccessful try against open claimers as the favorite at Tampa.

Good luck!:$:

Got the story- the 10 ran off in the paddock, and speared the bronze statue of Secretariat, and apparently has been put down. Total freak accident. :(

Oh, boy, horrible to hear something like that. Too many ways to lose a horse.

philcski 05-20-2009 02:48 PM

Going to protect my pick 3 with a couple doubles to the 1 entry, which I inadvertently left off.

Bel R6 $6 double 3,10/1
R6 $3 doubles 7/1,2,5,6,7,8

Adds $30 to my play. +$9 right now on day accounting for Suffolk whiff.

Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I'll bet another Belmont turf race. Been waiting for Le Gran Cru to move to turf, gets a good spot here.

$25 WP 9
$4 exactas 9/2,5,6,7,8; 2,5,6,7,8/9

philcski 05-20-2009 03:33 PM

NYRA gate crew a joke today. This is pathetic to watch.

Well, I played on with the late Pick 3 and the gate crew kept me alive on all tickets.

still down $72 for the day with another $26 in play.

I played that wrong though. They would have had to fall down to not run 3-2 so I should have just played a $20-$25 straight exacta.

What do these tournaments entail?

It says you can only bet one one horse in any race, so you can only make win/place/show bets or double/pick 3/pick 4/pick6 with one horse in the bet for each race?

philcski 05-20-2009 06:43 PM

Woodbine R3 $20 win 7
$4 exactas 7/2,3,5,9 2,3,5,9/7

philcski 05-20-2009 06:53 PM

More Woodbine madness... longest two shots run 1-2 and the rest look like they're running in quicksand. They used to have a great dirt track and replaced it with this garbage.

-$52 // -$28 on day

I think this is just WPS, any amount up to the amount of your bankroll, only Monmouth Park. It gets pretty crazy at the end, people firing their entire roll at 30-1 shots.

Sounds pretty interesting. I have to help my friend move so I won't be at this one. Does Monmouth hold these things often? I don't think I've ever seen one at Philadelphia Park, though I probably wasn't looking for it.

Yeah, about once a month. Think there's a schedule on that brochure, plus they have a big one at Meadowlands every year that's great. It's really hard though, I've only cashed once in about 10 tournament tries. The guys that play them are really, really good.

I'd imagine they're really tough. You mentioned having 2 entires. Can you play two different cards?

herkhorse 05-20-2009 07:13 PM

And sorry for all the questions. I've bet on horses for a while but have just started getting into it a little more.

Yes- Up to two entries for this one, and it's almost a necessity to use multiple to be competitive. Whatever the maximum number of entries is what you should expect to be investing if you really want to have a chance.
