Actually, in Haynesworth's case he will see most of it. He's guaranteed $41 million and gets $32 million in the first 13 months. Those numbers are far more significant than the $100 million.

Titans sign Collins for 2 years $15 mil $8.5 guaranteed.

Now they can dump Young AND Collins in two years. Hell yeah.

Bart Scott finally stopped BS'ing and signed. Jets had to throw in an extra year, but we've finally got a beastly linebacking corps and a guy who can cover tight ends.

From here I'd like to see them sign Jim Leonhard, Jabari Greer and a decent guard, then draft Heyward-Bey in the first round.

This is a good sign for the Ryan "era". Remember back when Herm Edwards took over, the one thing we thought was a sure thing, was the Jets signing of John Lynch due to their close friendship. They couldn't even get that done right. But, on the bright side, Lynch only had 3 or 4 pro bowls left in him.

Jets reportedly have traded a 4th round pick to the Eagles for CB Lito Sheppard. They're also the frontrunners for former Ravens CB Corey Ivy, who would play the slot, as well as Leonhard to play alongside Hollywood. Also, Brandon Moore re-signed for slightly less money, so cross guard off the need list. If all of these rumors come to fruition, just get me a burner at WR and the rest is only building depth.

Either Clemens or Ratliff. That's really not a major concern. People will say it is all spring, but it isn't. They're both capable, and we don't need a superstar under center.

I PRAY that your first sentence is correct. A 4th round pick for a guy who warmed up our bench and tried to turn guys against the organization. Couldnt even find the field over Joselio Hanson. Good PHUCKING riddance. Next up, Reggie "Doo Doo" Brown.

Also, reports are that B Dawk was signed by Denver. There are also conflicting reports that state the contrary. If the former is true, an end to a GREAT tenure is upon us. We do have capable players waiting in the wings and are looking to get more via the draft. Thanks B Dawk for all those years of service, you freak of nature you.

He might of lost a step or two in the last couple of years, but his biggest asset to the team was being the emotional leader on & off the field. I wish him the best in Denver if he ends up there.

I'm not a Sheppard fan, but you don't think he could be a serviceable #2 corner?

Agreed. He was hands down the guy this team rallied around both on and off the field. Wish him nothing but the best, unless its a SB against us.

DH, the word is that you guys will get a 5th round pick this season and a conditional pick in 2010, either a 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

Yeah, just saw that on NFL Network. Even better. He'll work out well for you guys alongside Revis. If you can land Leonhard, look out.

Its probably in your paper but I think Winslow renegotiate his contract after a good year in 2006 or 2007. He has a few years left, he is definitely not on his original contact.

He pretty much stunk all year. He is an agressive run blocker but needs to improve in the passing game. Going into free agency the Steelers had almost no lineman under contract so their hands were tied. They franchised Starks, tendered Colon and now resigned Keoamtu, so now they have all their starters back but they know they have to improve this area.

Tennessee was also active today, landing DT JOvan Haye and WR Nate Washington...A few nice additions for the Titans.

Haye is very servicable on the inside. He won't make the Pro Bowl, but he is solid against the run and can get after the QB on occaision.

Housh would have been a perfect fit for the Bears but no, they don't believe in free agent acquistions.

And they think Devin Hester is a #1 receiver.....

Agree about the piss poor franchise ,but they have so many holes and potential ones (what the hell has happened to Carson Palmer?) that giving Housh 8 mil per year is a bit over the top for them. I actually think that 8 Mil for Housh is a bit much for anyone.

the thing about it is he's a top 5 wr, like it or not. Now Cincy has to make ocho cinco the #1 or cut him and move squeeky clean church going chris henry to the # 1, both seem like excellent options if i'm the gm:rolleyes:

Tom, your team (Bears) really isnt falling behind the ball here. This FA class, with the exception of a few, is WEAK. This year, more than others in the past, is the year to build through the draft. Stockpile some picks, maneuver up, and fill your holes that way. There are more than a fair share of wr's in the draft that could come in and make a big impact on your team, or any team for that matter. I think signing the tackle from CAR, is a good start to this free agency period, just like our signing of Stacy Andrews. The rest of the pieces will fall in place sooner or later.

I personally LOVE what the Eagles are doing. I know I'm in the puny minority throughout the whole fanbase by saying that, but the ones hating it are the ones letting their hearts do the talking. IN fact, my old man and I got into a shouting match about it over teh phone last night, in which he hung up the phone on me. We bickered back and forth about letting the 'heart and soul' just walk. He horselaughed me when I told him I loved the moves. Would I have loved to have kept Dawkins for next year?? Sure, but not if its going to hinder our progress in the next 2-3 years. He went for teh most money knowing it's the last dotted line he'll ever sign in this league. Now, if we didnt have a capable replacement in tow, I'd be howling to the moon as well, but such is not the case. You have to look at it from a different standpoint in order to make sense. The Eagles simply do not make mistakes when it comes to releasing/not re-signing aging veterans. They've done the best job of that in the league the past 5-7 years IMO. The list of guys we let go, at the peak of their popularity and on the decline in their ability, is a long one. We just move along and plug the holes.

So, in short, PHUCK Houshmanzadah. He's a possession reciever. The only wideout to be had that is worth Gord Gecko bucks is Anquan Boldin, and he's inked up. If he isnt able to be pryed away from the Cards, just sit back and wait for the draft. Thats when the real fun begins, and that is where TEAMS are built for the long haul.

Yea, I was shocked when they let him leave without an offer. I thought for a second that he might make his way down 95, but Ryan clearly has the in's with the ex-Ravens. Nice addition.

I will defer that question to the #1 Jets fan around here. I honestly haven't seen enough of him to make a fair evaluation.

Well the Jets fans will find out how mediocre he is soon enough. He was with the Bills three years and he's not very good. Slow, average tackler, and can't make big plays without help. I have to imagine the Jets could have done just as well plugging a 2nd or 3rd round pick in there. He started 2007 with the Bills second string behind Ko Simpson. Simpson suffered a season ending injury in week one moving Leonhard up to first string. He quickly proved ineffective and was demoted to second string in favor of George Wilson who had been switched from wide receiver in the preseason. Wilson then went down for the season and Leonhard was back in a starting role. A few weeks later they benched him yet again, this time for waiver wire pick up Bryan Scott. Not surprisingly he was allowed to walk after the season.

He had a very good year with Rex, so I'm confident that he'll be able to improve the Jets' secondary. Seems to me like he's gotten better every season in the NFL. Mainly I think that he fits with the Jets' system and personnel. He's a quick, hard-hitting safety that can cover, which will allow Hollywood to be more of a centerfielder. You can't be that slow if you're a full-time punt returner averaging 11.6 yards per return. Kerry had a terrible year last year, and a big part of it was that he constantly had to make up for the shortcomings in pass coverage of Abram Elam and Eric Smith. This also allows Elam to go back to being a pure run-stuffer and blitzing safety and stop trying to cover down the field.

Neither of the secondary guys the Jets got (Sheppard or Leonhard) are beasts, but they don't have to be. Their jobs are to take pressure off of Revis and Rhodes and stop making it so easy to pick on the other half of the secondary.
