Get rid of his Sec. of the Treasury.
Timothy Geithner did not know summer camp is not a tax deduction... honest mistake... that is a crock. Most of the other appointments have pgardn's approval. I wish more people really understood the problems with no child left behind and school vouchers (the vouchers presented for the State of Texas are nothing short of pure stupidity, a clear violation of the separation of church and state... and much more.) Also some of the very worst students in Science that I have taught come from private religion associated schools. If this is close to representative to the rest of the country we can forget about any advancement in Science. Oh yes. The home schooled kids are awful also Science wise. Even if their parents are Doctors. |

now, there are still times when someone particularly loathsome is found guilty of some godawful crime that i have a very visceral response-kill the bastard. but that's why laws are supposed to be based on sound judgment, not emotion. as for more gun laws-i hope you never get your wish. gun laws don't impact criminals-they only provide more victims. you think a criminal will think twice about committing a violent crime, because guns are illegal? uh, so's the robbery he's about to commit-he couldn't care less about any laws. |

of course, banning it outright would keep it that way. |

Gotta love the way it screws with the minds of the little fourth graders, when the person giving the tour to the school group asks questions, students eagerly answer, then the tour guide tells the students they are WRONG about what they've learned about when dinosaurs lived, how they died, etc. |

i'm not really sure how i feel about gun control but i love the paranoid fantasy as justification for your opinion. armed gangs roaming your neighborhood? |

Actually, I have pressure on me to get a gun. The dogs chased a guy out of the backyard 3 weeks ago. Have they done studies on how many people have killed a family member versus killed an actual intruder? Guns are pretty unforgiving.

but you need to weigh that against whatever level of irrational paranoia you have about armed stranger's bursting through your door. |
My wife won't let me get a gun. The best I can hope for is one of those old style credit card swipers. I figure any burglar coming up my steps that hears that noise will sh*t their pants and run.

Later on, it turned out that Porter was found to be innocent. Some other guy confessed to the crime and everything. Are you saying it would be better if Porter had simply been executed right away....before nasty things like the actual facts of the case got involved? And by the way, Porter is just one of many: http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/inno...reed-death-row Some of the interesting stuff is at the bottom: Average number of years between being sentenced to death and exoneration: 9.5 years Number of cases in which DNA played a substantial factor in establishing innocence: 17 It makes me wonder how many people were executed for crimes they didn't do in the era BEFORE DNA testing, and how many might be executed now, before some future technology is developed that we don't yet know about. |
