i also think they should get rid of the death penalty-the state should not make killing unlawful-rightfully so-and then engage in the same thing. and yes, i get that it's punishment.
now, there are still times when someone particularly loathsome is found guilty of some godawful crime that i have a very visceral response-kill the bastard. but that's why laws are supposed to be based on sound judgment, not emotion.
as for more gun laws-i hope you never get your wish. gun laws don't impact criminals-they only provide more victims. you think a criminal will think twice about committing a violent crime, because guns are illegal? uh, so's the robbery he's about to commit-he couldn't care less about any laws.

actually, i read not long ago that there is no evidence that an innocent man (in the u.s.) has been put to death.
of course, banning it outright would keep it that way.

Actually, I have pressure on me to get a gun. The dogs chased a guy out of the backyard 3 weeks ago. Have they done studies on how many people have killed a family member versus killed an actual intruder? Guns are pretty unforgiving.

statistically, you're far more likely to kill someone you know or yourself with a gun over someone breaking into your house.

but you need to weigh that against whatever level of irrational paranoia you have about armed stranger's bursting through your door.

My wife won't let me get a gun. The best I can hope for is one of those old style credit card swipers. I figure any burglar coming up my steps that hears that noise will sh*t their pants and run.

There was a guy awhile ago here in Illinois named Anthony Porter. He was on death row for something like 15 years. Then, two days before he was scheduled to be executed, his lawyers won some sort of stay of execution after finally uncovering some kind of new evidence. Death penalty advocates moaned about the never ending appeals process and the fact that a new investigation was being launched.
Later on, it turned out that Porter was found to be innocent. Some other guy confessed to the crime and everything.

Are you saying it would be better if Porter had simply been executed right away....before nasty things like the actual facts of the case got involved?

No, I am not the one who wants to get it. I actually trust my dogs enough. They adore me( I feed them.) I would maybe prefer to get one more larger dog, or a tazer. Black Rage is for real. I'm not crazy about the lethal option being around here.

dogs are a great option but just remember they'll do nothing about the threat of mole people tunneling into your bedroom.

when that happens all you can do is beg for your life in a soft and tearful voice unless you have a gun.
