Anybody wanna dispute me now that Utah should be the real National Champion?

They beat a better team than both of these.

Stoops' agent needs to try and get that Denver job lined up while his client still has some value.

Okla-phonya.

Which low class gesture is more irritating?

The gang sign gesture the Texas fans make, or the Gator Mouth the Gator Nation is addicted to making?

SilverRP 01-08-2009 11:16 PM

Florida beat em up front for most of the game. Their defense came up big. Tebow, whether you like him or not, is a gamer, congrats to Florida.

On a side note: can they drag a game out any longer than they did tonight? I don't think it's possible. My gawd, felt like I was watching more commercials than an actual game..

Yes, it's called the Super Bowl.

My side note: Did anybody else find the Fox coverage shaky? Charles Davis as the second man in the booth? Are you kidding me? Wasn't this dude doing the Grey Goose Something or Other Show on The Golf Channel 6 months ago? Why couldn't they use one of their NFL guys? Mute button was on most of the second half. I can't wait until ESPN takes over the BCS Games.

ddthetide 01-09-2009 05:39 AM

congrats to the gators, heck of a run after the ole miss loss. third straight NC for the SEC.

congrats ou, their defense and team in general was a lot "tougher" than i thought they were. ou ran the ball well. their speed on defense was impressive. the DB's closed on balls and made tebow's throws look like lollipops. (maybe they were)

fox coverage and the bcs SUCK!!

usc has Nothing on these 2 teams.

sorry phil, if Bama doesn't bring their A+game, ou would have run them out of miami.

utah would have been lucky to be within 10pts of either team tonight. think about this; after the first 8 min., as bad as Bama looked and played, Bama won the game 17-10 and just missed 2 long FGs. the utes looked and played well but most of that was because Bama didn't want to be there and the players admitted to it afterward.:wf

Good call on the announcers Mike, I muted it well before halftime. I was wondering who those guys were. If they mentioned how the Sooners walked up to the line one more time, I was going to have a breakdown.

herkhorse 01-09-2009 06:42 AM

The announcers were awful, but Brent M. would have been just as bad.

I don't buy that for one second. It's an easy excuse on their part, "we didn't want to be there". Bama played bad because Utah made them look bad.

OU wouldn't have run anyone out of the house last night. they looked like they always do in bowl games... mediocre.

Doesn't matter if you "win" a quarter or a half, the only score that matters is the final.

If you are referring to the "Hook 'em Horns" gesture then you should know that was around long before it was any type of gang sign. It's also not a gesture you should make in Italy.

how is that even possible? Tim Tebow is the greatest role model out there for children.. and hes as great as a winner as there has ever been in college football. and he's 100% real. I can understand not liking the Gators but Tim Tebow is an inspiration to all.

bcs chump game a joke! utah champ read reilly on espn.com

Was I the only one who thought the game sucked! So sick of hearing florida is that good. Ya ya ya... Just read on espn site that ap voters have to vote for winner of bcs chump game no 1. What a joke. Then after game is over bama said they didn't show up whatever. You got beat up get over it and you can't tell me utah couldn't play with either ou or gator. Another joke of bcs year. Want to read a good article on it check out rick reilly's articile on espn. Wouldn't it be nice if we had the semis this week. usc vs florida and texas vs utah. then 2 meet and real champ. Not florida as bcs chump!

jwkniska 01-09-2009 11:27 AM

always been in the past that the coaches pool had to vote for the BCS champ game winner.... AP could do whatever they wanted, which is why they dropped them from being in the BCS formula.

Looked like a couple high-school squads out there for much of the football contest.

Penalties, picks, dropped passes ... pretty sloppy stuff from supposed elite clubs.

Not only would SC be favored over the Alligators (or Yutes, for that matter), but I have absolutely no doubt that they would prevail comfortably on the field.

In fact, Alligator fans should get down on their knees right now and thank their maker that, because of this ridiculous, flawed system, their team didn't have to face the cardinal and gold in that final game...

Luckily there's nothing to worry about from the Trojans in 2009-2010 either because of the dreaded trip to Oregon that beckons.

I agree with everything you just said (did i just type that????).

USC beats both of those teams last night comfortably.

I think it is safe to say that with a playoff system in place, USC would have won at least 4 titles during the Pete Carroll era.

What could you possibly have to back up that statement?

They clearly wouldn't have won in 2006 when they lost the championship game. Are you assuming because they beat overmatched Big 10 rivals in home games that they would have automatically won the MNC each year?

I think it is safe to say that with a BCS system in place, New England would have won at least 13 titles during the Bill Belichick era.

Just an opinion thats all. I think they won outright one year. They were screwed out of it another year although they were undefeated. I think they were the best team in college football this year and in 2006 as well.

I cant back my statement up though. Its just my opinion from watching the games. The USC teams have had a level of speed and quality unmatched over the last 8 years in my opinion.

I should have said 2005, the year they lost the Championship Game to Texas.

The thing that I'm just so tired of hearing is every year when the BCS games roll around, USC beats up on a scrub from a remarkably weak conference in a home game and everyone crows about how they should be the National Champion.

I suppose I've been jaded ever since ESPN ran a series on the 2005 USC team being the greatest ever with Mark May saying they would have beaten any of the 10 best teams chosen for comparison when they hadn't even finished the season yet. Then they lost.

The Trojans ought to do something they haven't done in a while next year. Win all of their conference games, including the ones to unheralded programs like Stanford. Then they can be where they always assume they belong, the National Championship game.

I understand the frustration with outward demonstrations of Christianity and/or wearing one's religion on their sleeve. That's a private matter which a person should handle in a private way.

That being said, I'm sure Tim Tebow is a wonderful person with a bright future as a linebacker or running back in the NFL.

you are SO wrong about this! usc can't not string together 2-3 top level performances to win in a playoff. they wouldn't have 6 weeks to prepare for a team and they would be play top teams 2-3 weeks in a row.

The regular season when they lose to Stanford, Oregon State or the college of the Dell Dude commercial guy.
