That's tomorrow night Matt. I just got home, been out since Monday morning so tonight is reunion night.

Doesn't mean I can do some work after they go to bed....

Tomorrow night it is off to bed early and I'll get serious.

It's always the last four races. Except on big days when they screw around with the wagering menu a bit.

Rolling doubles this year.

Seriously, WTF? If they're looking for a tune up, She won't get much from this bunch, and I can't believe ole' Barry needs the 14 G's this bad. Toss the two tire tries, add a sweet tightener 12/7 and it's had to imagine she breaks a sweat.

The 4th race is a brain cruncher. Do these top trainers usually show up?

Thoughts from the experts???

I think they are hoping for an easy confidence builder for her. If she doesn't crush these, it's off to the shed.

Probably a bit saltier than they had planned though. She will be pressured from the word go and she doesn't like to pass horses. It may set up nicely for Lil's Lassie or Orinoquia to catch them at the wire.

More often than not, no. IF they (Motion & Clemente) thought their horses had some talent, they'd run 'em in Miami. They usually ship up to Tampa, get crushed at the windows and get beat. You do get the occaisional ones that blow them away, but I tend to play against. Stakes races not included, when they show up for those, they win.

At first glance (I haven't checked pedigrees or replays yet), I am leaning towards the 7 & 8. The 7 will be the second or third choice and the 8 should be fairly juicy.

I thought at first glance that it would be a walk to the line for her, but digging in a bit - this is a tricky race.

Mayomast looks to me to be the real threat to her on the front end (and also looks to be the reason for the screwy condition) - the other speed is cutting back from route (save for Salty Wave who is doomed by the 11 post and would have to run back to last summer form to get involved) and don't see TMad, DDay, or PGem going sub 22/45. Possibly 3 distinct flights with the off pace runners having alot of work to do getting through late speed that won't come back to 'em.

I like your idea with Lil's Lassie, but I'm going to take a long look at Fotografica if I'm going to use an off the pace type. Very interesting race

You notice #10 State Treasure in that race is 3/4 to both Alumni Hall and Secret Status? Blinks coming off...getting her on the weeds for the first time AND Velez is up:tro: :tro:

Be interested to see how she takes to the sand. I see she's been stabled at Payson for the past month or so.

I am not so sure about it smoking them Hooves. Bigs tears this place up and it is the only place that GPK cashes a ticket....

Why is it that if I put time into FG, I might do well and putting that same time into Tampa, I won't? Is it possible that Tampa smokes you?

All things aside, I'd rather churn my money through Tampa's window than Magna's or CDI's.

BTW, this is Rudeboyelvis's documented P4 totals from last year. Anyone that can double his money over the course of a meet, is not getting 'smoked'.

I know when I spent a day with the Tampa boys during KNS race last year they were fll of insight, angles, and picks and I should have listened. Most were horses not to bet even though they looked good on paper. And a few were from out in left field that scored at some great prices.

I think they know better than most how to play Tampa.

One of the great angles at any track just opening is knowing is knowing where the winners are shipping in from. Whether it be Saratoga, GC, FG, or Tampa, those first few weeks can make your meet.

hoovesupsideyourhead 12-12-2008 07:17 AM

most of us then, i know bigs and elvis do well.. gpk..im not so sure..some people that i know do not do well at that meet ,but the lure of turf on some dark days gets people in..good luck with the meet.

Breakfast at the Downs

Did this last year, it was pretty neat. CPF spoke and gave us all some insight into jockeyin' (which was kinda funny cause he was acting like he was Pat Day or something) then Jamie Ness talked to the crowd about his pp readin' / replay watchin' method of training, then Margo handicapped the whole card. Well worth the 6.95...

Opening Day!
12/13/2008
Tampa Bay Downs

Opening Day signals the starting of live thoroughbred racing for the season, and the day starts off with Breakfast at the Downs for only $6.95, you will receive full breakfast buffet, grandstand admission and live program plus a handicapping seminar. The afternoon’s racing includes the $65,000 Lightning City Stakes for fillies and mares three years old and up!

No chance he draws in the 7th or the feature, but definitely live in the other 2. As Bigs eluded to, there a better than fair chance that she doesn't make the trip from Payson - probably look for something softer. And if that happens, it changes the whole complexion of the race for me. I hate to even cap it until tomorrow.
