u should play those songs over and over until you are almost bouncing off the wall right until you leave for the contest. even play them in your car on the ride if you can. finally I would focus on picking horses who are decent longshots breaking from either post position number one or the far outside post position. that way, if they brake from post 1, and the horse in post 2 veers out sharply at the start while the horse from the extreme outside post veers in sharply at the start, your horse is the only one left in the field who hasn't lost all chance of winning at the start. and that means :$: :$: and contest wins.

thats how I won my only contest! the 2 horse took a right hand turn coming out of the gate and the 10 took a left and BAM! my 20-1 shot starting on the rail was loose on a 3 length lead even though he didn't have much early speed. and after that :tro: :tro:

The good Dr. is right. The more intense you get the better off you are. When I went to the contest at AQU years ago. I blasted Welcome to the jungle the whole way there. Then before I put my first bet in I went to the bathroom, put my eye black on and had the bathroom attendant slap me as hard as he could. It kind of looked like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAN9qsRGQts

The only difference is I am a 5'8 white guy and the guy who slapped me was a 4 foot Mexican guy named Tito.

But it worked, I hit every race at Aqu that day and cashed in the tourney!

i refuse to entertain the idea this part isn't a brilliant parody.

everytime they have you pick an alternate in case of a late scratch... the alternate hits the board and my pick doesn't. I gave up on contests. they always include tracks like Delaware and Thistle

Anybody with experience have any good suggestions on the best way to approach this (standard contest) format?

it's Ok. i didn't even know what a "quinella" was until about 10 minutes ago.

When I was a 13 yr old I played an AAU basket ball game against John Henderson, and attempted to gaurd him. He was 6' 3" when he was 13. I just thank god I didnt have to play football against him.
