I am very secure in his choice of a spiritual mentor..make that recently canned spiritual mentor.

I know I select mine based on their level of insanity.

And your posts give no hope for the future and the youth of this country as you are so blindly led by someone who has done nothing and stood for even less , a person who has no leadership background and no platform to stand on but "CHANGE" . Yes all this non-sense about the man saying he is Muslim , his family ties to Muslims who have killed Christains in Africa , his knowing a guy who likes to make bombs and blow things up so people will see how right he is and his own preacher hating on white people. But none of this is a big deal right ? You are willing to let him lead us as a people , to let all this other stuff just be pushed aside because he is for change.

well done in either case. i could feel my i.q. drop as i read it. i'm now tempted to watch fox.

No I didnt ask Mr Hughes about politics per say just the bailout and being that he is a self made man I thought his views would be insightfull and they were. The Obama insight should seem a little more importanat to you than it does , I just cant believe people are so willing to give this man a vote when he hasnt done jack shyte as a Senator and his ties to people I wouldnt want to be known for knowing just dont seem to matter .

I can't believe that people who have the privilege of voting, rather than doing their own independent education regarding candidates, apparently find it easier to believe any rumor that blows through the space between their ears.

dalakhani 10-06-2008 03:06 PM

Okay, if Barack is elected we will have a terrorist as president.

I have now been convinced to change my vote.

Mortimer 10-06-2008 03:11 PM

I have now flipped back to McCain.

Darling, McCain/Palin are espousing CHANGE --- or haven't you been listening to their originality ????

And what does their platform have to do with the future of children ???? Or education---try some yourself---your grammar, syntax and spelling are beyond the pale, along with your powers ( sic ) of reasoning ...

" All this non-sense about the man saying he is Muslim " is autistic ... As is the " guy who makes bombs " ... That nameless guy is involved in education at a level incomprehensible to you, and his radical days passed during Obama's childhood ...

I can not explain the radical sixties to you, but there were folks then that grew to question America in less radical ways, and some of them, not at all ...

You might try to inform yourself with facts, and present an intelligent argument for your viewpoint ... So far, as others have pointed out, you have failed ...

Too late for this attempt at logic! Myself and many others have already been swayed.

Obama is a muslim pretending to be christian who hangs out with terrorists pretending to be teachers. A vast left wing conspiracy indeed.

You want to talk about syntax and grammar? Hah! You talk to Ms. Palin about that. She will show you a thing or two about Grammar!

Always dangerous to try and insert rational thought or fact into political discussion, but what the heck (this excerpt from CBS News):

---------------
Over the weekend, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin accused Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) of associating with terrorists.

“Our opponent is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who target their own country,” Palin said.

What is she referring to?

FACTS: Palin is talking about Obama’s association with a 1960’s anti war radical who now lives in Chicago named Bill Ayers. Obama met Ayers in 1995. The senator has repeatedly noted that when Ayers committed his domestic acts of terrorism forty years ago, Obama was eight years old.

Ayers was one of the founders of a radical anti-war group called the Weather Underground that claimed responsibility for a bombing in San Francisco that killed a police officer and hurt another. Ayers’s group also claimed to be involved in plans to bomb other locations aimed at disrupting the Vietnam war effort. However, despite his involvement and that of his wife, they were never convicted of any crimes due in part to prosecutorial misconduct.

Over time Ayers emerged in Chicago as a community activist, became a professor and got involved in public school reform. This is how Obama met Ayers at a meeting on schools. Ayers reportedly hosted a campaign event for Obama’s early forays into statewide politics in 1995 and the two men sat on two different foundation boards together where their job was to distribute educational grants to organizations. Ayers still sits on the board of The Woods Fund of Chicago but Obama left the board in 2002. That was the last time Obama had any official link to Ayers.

There is no evidence that Ayers gave money to or has been involved in the Obama campaign. There is also no indication the two have been in regular communication for at least six years.

In response today, Senator Obama said:

“He’s a professor at the University of Chicago- Illinois, teaches education, and he engaged in these despicable acts 40 years ago when I was 8 years old. I served on a board with him. And so now they’re trying to use this as guilt by association, and as you said, they’ve explicitly stated that what they want to do is to change the topic because they don’t want to talk about the economy and the failed policies of the last eight years.”

Should we start a campaign in the smart threads?

Im voting for Bob Barr. Obama is a terrorist and McCain is 95 years old and has a pet chimp as a running mate.

It would be nice if we had an agnostic president...you know, someone who has a better chance of not being clinically insane.

In order to get elected as President of the USA there are two important religious requirements:

1. You have to understand that a majority of Americans are Christians and that most pray to a Judeo/Christian God and have little tolerance for anyone that doesnt.

2. support of the state of Israel is vital to American interests.

prudery 10-06-2008 04:40 PM

Regardlessof the outcome of this election----this boullabaise of bullshit--- I wll cherish what I read here---the best discourse on a difficult subject in difficult times ...

i read, maybe in time magazine-not sure tho, it was some time ago..anyway, i read that our entire foreign policy decision-making regarding israel is predicated on the belief that isreal is the chosen land, and should it fall that the world would come to an end. it's not because we like to support the underdog, or having to do with democracy, but has everything to do with what our leaders learned in bible school.
is that really the case?

Mortimer 10-06-2008 04:49 PM

if that is the case, God help us.

I had never heard that before. I wonder if someone more versed on the subject could help us understand because I never have understood why Israel's fate was of such importance to us.

I have researched Mr Obama , I have looked at his record in the senate and what he did before he was elected to the Senate , I cannot find one thing of a substance that he has done while an elected offical. So far I have found not one peice of legislation that he is responsible for . He did work with law enforcement agency's to get confessions taped for all capital cases. He partnered on a bill to get WMD in Eastern Europe and Russia destroyed and created a website to track Federal Spending. He was the first to raise the threat of avian flu on the house floor and he worked to eliminate gifts of travel on corprate jets to members of congress. Thats it that is all he has done while being a Senator , now tell me he is qaulified to run the country on that modest resume , he can have your vote but he isnt getting mine.
