That was about as inexplicable a winner as you will find. |

IF, if I bet Chavez, I'd say before the race. I don't redboard. |

I NEVER posted I had Chavez...only POSTED (IRONICALLY) the Chavez booted home the $40.00 winner in thr 9th at Belmont. BTW, YOU do know when you do the nyra handicapping show that you are supposed to be SPEAKING TO THE CAMERA ( AUDIENCE) NOT DONOVAN. Go watch the tape of yourself today. |

wants your opinion enough to put YOU on the nyra show ..then you can talk about on camera angles.....
|
i caught that nyra show today, and didn't notice anybody looking the wrong way. i'm no marty scorcese but i'm pretty sure that for a show like that you are supposed to look sometimes at the camera and other times at the guy that you are chatting with.

And I never said you said you bet the Chavez horse. I appreciate your suggestions about any on camera work I do, as well as those from anyone, and while it is fine if you direct your TV talent to stare straight at the camera, as you should run your stuff as you see fit, but in my case I have been directed to look at the camera part of the time as well as the person I am doing the show with. If you don't look at the other person then you give the incorrect impression that you aren't listening or conversing with them. |

As a handicapper you are very good. NYRA has been good at keeping up the video with the selections. Remind them to post your selections at the bottom of the screen At an OTB, the NYRA sound is not always on...competition from harness tracks running...so w/o sound no one knows what race/horses are being discussed on camera w/o the selections posted. Either way, kudos to NYRA for adding you to the handicapping show. |

Thanks. I was teasing you, but actually I have no problem with anyone suggesting things I might be doing wrong on the show, and you may well be right that I looked at Eric too much. I'll try to pay more attention to that. I'm very happy with the progress we have made adding replays. As far as the picks on the screen, we always want to put them up but unfortunately sometimes we lose them because of technical difficulties. Tell the OTB to put the sound up! |

actually its been quite awhile since i've watched that nyra show, i used to watch it all the time.
but what struck me today was the replays, how many there were and how they were seemlessly integrated into the show. that adds a lot. |

The goal of anybody on TV, from the lowest to the highest level, is to get people to watch you. Hopefully we are encouraging more people to pay attention. |
its really so much better than two guys just reading from their notes, hearing the comments and at the same time seeing what is being described is much more informative and takes full advantage of the medium.

The goal is to analyze the races....and not specifically the horses. You want to encourage people to think about how they structure their bets and you can arrive at that by disecting individual races or race sequences. |

On one of your shows, did Andy Beyer ever say that Curlin was gunna run about 19th in the Kentucky Derby? If he did, then was he being serious?
