While below par for a Grade 1 winner - she was pretty ok now that I dug up her PP's.

If they had more 12f races, she's have been OK. A huevo was very fast when he was right and on his game.

Scrimshaw could actually really run.
He was one of DWL's finest pieces of pure butchery. |

You reminded me of Going Wild, though, and Ten Cents A Shine, horses of (looking to the sky above with my left hand at chest level) promise...without the necessary means...necessary means...of a higher education. |

Shippers like Best Pal from California did not like hot, humid conditions that afternoon. Free Spirits Joy was well acclimated to ambient conditions. FSJ was Louisiana-bred based at LaD. Also, it has been documented by others, such as Steve Davidowitz in his last edition of Betting Thoroughbreds, that track was packed, rock hard, superhighway along rail. Another testament is final time 2:00.4. Atypically fast when compared with previous 1-1/4 mile editions of Super Derby in that era. As for Borel, Boo just schooled out-of-towners with his "home court" advantage of knowing that rail was lightning fast that day. Jockeys are like shippers because sometimes they don't like new surrondings. Now, I do concur that FSJ is one of the worst Grade I winners ever. |

Action This Day... Ruler's Court... |
as far as fillies go, hollywood glitter has to be up there with sutra.
and i most strongly disagree with ruler's court. he suffered a bad injury after his devastating norfolk win, which was just a thing of beauty. i think that horse was going to be special. oh well. here's a link to his 15 or so length win in 141.1, a stakes record, in 2003. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkT-LSMlBv8 |

Is there a Saarland fan club here that's blocking that nomination? I was looking up a couple I remembered and while he only managed a G3, how 'bout another Lukas nominee, Buckle Down Ben. For the G2 threshold there's Fifty Stars and Spanish Chestnut. Not that they weren't once interesting but they're one hit wonders really, that's all. Does anybody care to sing the praises of Onion?
PS. I happen to enjoy Wonder Lady Anne L to a degree. She did beat Wait a While for a G2 and Pine Island for her G1. Of course not the fastest races on the planet but oh well..I'm rooting for Real Quiet as a sire so it's hard for me to vote against her. |
