A clock malfunction at Michigan? And Avery's statments are falsehoods? And you wonder why he calls you dumb?

Quit while you're behind, before he gives you another brutal taste of the long knuckle.

A guy walks into a bar with his dog to watch the Penn State-Michigan game. When Penn State hits a field goal, the dog stands on his hind legs and barks three times.

The bartender says, “wow, that’s pretty cool, your dog does that whenever Penn State hits a field goal against Michigan?”

“Yep,” the dog’s owner responds.

When Penn State scores a touchdown, the dog rolls over, sprints around the bar, stands on his hind legs and barks six times.

“Man,” the bartender says, “if your dog does all that stuff when Penn State scores against Michigan, what the heck does he do when Penn State beats Michigan?”

The dog’s owner answers, “How should I know? I’ve only had the dog for eleven years.”

Mortimer 03-21-2008 10:51 AM

That's right.

Ummm...you stated that since leaving their creampuff independent schedule and joining the big 10 Penn State never sniffed a national championship. That is completely false. They were in the big 10 in 1994 and went 12-0. End of story. I would call that "sniffing" a national championship. One of the great college offenses in NCAA history. I stated some falsehoods on that season too however. They won 63-14 over OSU not 63-7. sorry. And I think the game they dropped from 1 to 2 in the polls was the Indiana game not the OSU game. Not sure on that one. They led INdiana 35-14 with 20 second left...Indiana scored a meaningless touchdown...recovered an onside kick and scored on a hail mary on the next play and the final ended up 35-29 and voters reacted to the score I think.

but you falsely stated that since they joned the big 10 they never "sniffed" a national championship. That was false.

Well, what happened...on the last drive was not a clock malfunction...but a couple plays before the winning touchdown...Lloyd Carr had time added onto the clock for no apparent reason. They scored the winning touchdown with 1 second on the clock. But for the added time, the game is over. Perhaps the added time on teh clock was justified. Don't know.

You don't know, yet you blame the loss on it? You also probably don't know that Joe-Weekend-At-Bernie's-Pa successfully argued for extra time to be put on the clock on StatePenn's go-ahead drive earlier.

Like I said, quit while you're behind.

Avery can't deal with me...never could?? NO one on this board ever used hyperbole. You knew darn well what I was talking about in that game.

You do realize I don't even have t answer this as any halfwit can see how you are drowning here.

My original statement was correct when the flavor is noted.......but I did go back and change it to make clear I was refering to 2000 and beyond.

But I'll give you that one.....so does that one make up a case of 'filled with falsehoods?"

Seems to me it was a clock malfunction.

Too bad State Penns offense couldn't make up for that obvious fix.

Why quit. I am easy picking's. I'm never behind. this is internets stuff. THere is no score. IT is only the score in your mind. It is mindless score. IN my scoreless mind, I'm ahead...in Avery's mindless score he is ahead. Who cares. I don't remember the entire game. AGain, it's all hyperbole. They actaully lost becuase they didnt' stop the play with 1 second left. If they stop that play they win. time was added to the clock that drive however. It means nothing...I'm in mindless debate with Avery once again.

You are dissing Penn State, I am responding. They have challenged for a national title since joining the big 10.

It wasn't a fix...the offense did score a touchdown in the last minute that game to take the lead. The defense didn't stop Michigan on the last drive.

Yes, I knew what you were talking about because StatePenn fans always resort to the referees are against us conspiracy theory to explain away any loss.

You blamed the loss on a "clock malfunction," which seems an awful lot like hyperbole to me, considering that the second that Michigan used to run the last play to beat StatePenn for the 7th consecutive time could have just as easily been the one that their ancient head coach had added, as the one that Lloyd Carr argued for.

horseofcourse 03-21-2008 11:07 AM

I have lost once again. Penn State has 2 big 10 titles...that's it. Michigan has dominated them without question...even one of their great big 10 years (2005) ...they still lost to Michigan in the final seconds. They have been nowhere as good as Ohio State since joining the big 10.

Can the two of you at least grant me that Penn State had a great team in 1994?? Is that too much to ask?? Is it possible that they had a good offense in 2005 under Robinson?? Joe Paterno has been a great coach...of that I am certain.

Mortimer 03-21-2008 11:08 AM

I can easily give you the first and second.

Yes....Paterno is a has been...that one,too.

Yes, it was absolutely hyperbole. It was simply a weak argument by me to insinuate to Avery that they possibly could have gone undefeated in 2005. I succomb to that because all his arguments are filled with weakness. AS I stated, they lost because they didn't stop Manningham with 1 second left. They stop that play they go undefeated. their ancient head coach is great...period. AVery likes to debate me which is fine. I made a harmless comment about Pryor picking the wrong team and AVery goes off. He loves it. I play with him and he plays with me. That's it.

You seem to be making progress.

Yes, they were good in 1994.

Their offense was OK in 2005, but I hardly think that's evidence that Pryor should go there to be coached by offensive innovators Joe Paterno and Galen Hall for the next four years.

And I agree with Joe Paterno has been.

EVen in this thread the only mistakes I saw were I gave the final of the 1994 OSU game as 63-7 rather than 63-14...again that was simply from memory without looking it up. I don't think that's too bad. I also didn't quite remember when they fell from 1 to 2 in the polls...I thought it was after the OSU game...but then remembered the Indiana game. And I'm still not completely certain on those facts...it did happen one of those games and it was 14 years ago. There truly were some clock issues the Michigan game in 2005 without question. It wasn't technically a "malfunction" as I said. YOu start rolling in these threads and it happens. I am not a plethora of mistakes on factual issues regarding sports...even in our "chosen" one threads...I am pretty correct on the facts for the most part I believe without question.

I without question hold my own in "Avery" threads.

Facts show you to be grossly erroneous.

I'm going to give this one up however!!! I could talk about Paterno for hours...so I'll leave the "has been" remarks alone and slink away now!!

The Bid 03-21-2008 11:42 AM

Arguing on behalf of State Penn is hard to do. On the other hand Michigan's coach Rod Rigger has a long way to go until he steals a recruit from The Ohio State University. Hell soon realize hes not in the Big East anymore. Hes going to have to do a lot more than show up with his WVU sales pitch to take a kid from Tress

Sometimes you have to do what's best. I got a good job in Idaho that I like and I actually do have 4 kids. I have to make money. There are nice things about Idaho in all reality. Just like all things aren't great in Ohio.
