I never called them a horrible team. You said he doesn't take kindly to criticism?? Good. I saw him eviscerated in games 1 and 2 in the Palace last year...I'm quite glad he didn't take kindly to it. I saw games 3 thorugh 6.

How many times exactly have you spoken to him?? I am sure he is self absorbed. AS I said most greats are.

LeBron is the reason they lost the finals. He was horrible. They may have won the series if he was on the bench.

Wel why don't you suck his joint, too?

He's an azzhole.

You can't see it like I can..Livingstone doesn't call him an azzhole 'cause he can't.

What are you bringing up those guys for? What does that have to do with anything?

Yuo can't name any greats who weren't selfabsorbed.....really?

Mortimer 03-13-2008 08:15 PM

Well ol' 'Bron beat Detroit all by himself...why can't he lose to San Antonio all by himself?

HOnestly, no I can't. I am just making rash generalizations. That's what simpletons like me do because we pale in comparison to your superior insight on this matter. It's LIvington by the way...no "e" at the end. He is simply an angry old man!! Tell me what his joint is??

horseofcourse 03-13-2008 08:18 PM

Just think Avery...only about 17 days until Jhonny steps up to the plate for his first at bat!! I am eagerly awaiting that development!!

My guess is Jhonny is not nearly good enough to be self absorbed. What do you think???

horseofcourse 03-13-2008 08:19 PM

I am eagerly awaiting the official wording of the massacre you put on me this evening?? Brain shredder or something like that??

Mortimer 03-13-2008 08:21 PM

Hank Aaron,Jesse Ownes,Marion Motley,Bill Willis, Archie Griffin,Herb Score,Austin Carr, Bill Russell, the San Antonio forward,Kevin Garnet,Joe Louis,Jose Torres, Floyd Patterson.......that's in the blink of an eye....great athletes who didn't/don't look for adoration.

Mortimer 03-13-2008 08:23 PM

No...I'm done with that stuff....I hate people praising James like they do for what they think he is; they're only sheep. If it's deserved ,then fine. Too much of it is not.

Now you see why I hate people.

AGain, you don't know any of them personally. I would contend all of these guys had "attitude" of some sort to become as great as they were. And again...most of these guys were 30s, 40s and 50s, 60s, 70s era athletes. Carr and Grriffin as well were not great professional athletes or even close to it. You brought up Garnett and Duncan from today.

NIke was not around to throw billions at Russell or Motley like they did for LeBron and Tiger and many today. It's nice to compare...but the worlds Jesse Owens and LeBron James were superior athletes in is just a hair different. Maybe LeBron hammers Z on the court. I don't think he does...but if you remember LeBron begged management to keep him when his contract was up and Z signed a very nice contract to stay in Cleveland. AFter the conference championship win....I saw Z make a direct bee-line to LeBron after the game and was the first person to greet him. Maybe I am imagining all this stuff from being a witness but I am pretty sure all those things happened with Z after LeBron joined the team. And I guess LeBron only wanted Z back on teh team for selfish reasons?? ONly to help him get his triple doubles I guess?? Or is there only a very remote chance that he thought with Z they may have just a hair better chance to win.

I may be off kilter on this. You give me the lowdown on what really happened here as an insider of the team.

I honestly don't know about how big an azz he is as you claim...all I really care about is on court stuff and it seems to me he greatly helps a team that says Cleveland on their jerseys...that's all I see.

Mortimer 03-13-2008 09:00 PM

You know what? You're so full of sh.it it isn't funny.

Fucl< you and Whothefucl<areThey and James. He's an embarrassment to me.You guys keep acting like the emperor is clothed.

I just put Bird up because he was my favorite. There were many others from that generation that knew game, understood the game and played the game hard...everynight. These kids today in the NBA are punks. Buncha damn sissys.

Did my eyes deceive me...or was that a Jack Sikma sighting early on in the video I posted??

We have this conversation all the time Pat. I used to LOVE the game of basketball, but I just can't bring myself to watch it anymore.

My uncle was a coach for 40 years...I could sit and listen to him talk about it for hours.

Play with the sissies then.I suppose you're another one who claims James beat Detroit one on five, but his crummy team mates are the ones who lost to San Antonio.

It is still a great game.
The NBA has done a horrible/great
job attracting the bling. They set
these guys up like this. All the replays
are dunks, very few great passes shown.

If you watch Detroit, Boston (this year),
San Antonio. You get to see much more
Team defense and Team offense.

What I cant stand is the horrible defense.
When guys dont even try to help out,
they only worry about their own man.

Of course not.
San Antonio played defense
that completely revolved around
James inaccuracy as a shooter.

They relied on his penchant of
going full bore to the hole with a
head of steam. They would not let him
do that.

Morton you have got to see this guy
is an unbelievably talented athlete.
I have been watching basketball a long
time and have never seen anyone with
his size and strength have the incredible
mobility he has with the ball.

pgardn 03-13-2008 09:57 PM

Also too many teams and too many
games imo Kev. 82 games is ridiculous.

Well I hope horseoffcourse and Whothefucl<areThey are listening..........and I have said countless times he's a great athlete, but a very overrated player.

Thank you for mentioning what team play can do.

Mortimer 03-13-2008 10:02 PM

Oh...they lost again. The King had 7 turnovers and was 1 of 6 from the 3 line. I thought they weren't supposed to lose if he plays?

That's 0-2 without Z ,but with Lee.

horseofcourse 03-13-2008 10:02 PM

I give up Avery!! You were right on point tonight once again!! LeBron will have the best poker hand in the NBA tonight however. 7 rebounds...7 assists...7 attempted 3 pointers...7 TURNOVERS!! Down 96-94 13 seconds left...offensive foul....down 101-99 6 seconds left...missed 3 pointer.

As much as I attempt...you are still the master.

(he did make all his foul shots in the 4th quarter tonight!!)

Actually the are now 4-3 without Z and with Lee. minor details though.

Mortimer 03-13-2008 10:22 PM

Good.

But still 0-2 over the last 2.

I have never said this ever. Why do you always go to this? The simple facts are in this NBA season, they have missed, LeBron, Hughes, Pavlovic, Gibson, Z, Varejao for longer than 5 game periods at a time. Over 20 without Varejao and Pavlovic...approaching that with Gibson. 7 now without Z. My claim has always been that with these what I consider decent players. Not great players...not necessarily top players...although Z is certainly good, that the Cavs will win. They played above .500 ball in the recent stretch with Varejao and Pavlovic missing....above .500 with Gibson missing...now above .500 with Z missing. They went 0-6 with LeBron missing. The evidence is quite overwhelming. They are still 37-23 when LeBron suits up regardless of whom else is injured on any particular day. No matter how bad or good I or you or anyone else thinks the rest of the players on the team are...you still need the best of what you have to compete adequately. I simply think that their record when LeBron plays speaks to how good he is. And despite his late game slip ups the last two nights...especially tonight which may have cost them the game...he has had multiple superb performances in the 4th quarter time and time again this year. I go back to the back to backs in LA and Portland in January.

You have brought out his weaknesses as has pga time and time again. I grant you guys that. Maybe he is overrated. I simply don't think so. The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the worst franchises in all of the league if you take away the 1976 season and the teams of the late 80s and early 90s...for the most part a horrendous franchise. I don't know how you can think despite your own personal disdain for the man and how he plays and his horrible efforts...how despite all that you can't say he hasn't been a boon to the franchise. for christ sakes they have 4 playoff series wins the last 2 years...the same number they had from 1970 through 2005. Forget just a second all the high school hype...the ESPN games in high school the magazine covers...all of that. What has happened to the franchise since he joined the team?? Yes, he has teammates and they are needed...but do you in all honesty think if the ping pong balls didn't go their way, they are in the finals last year?? As a fan I don't really care about his ego, about his money, about anything really. all humans make mistakes...he drives too fast, he wore a Yankee cap...dumb stuff. But for the most part he has made the Cleveland NBA team relevant if not single-handedly...darn near close to that. Those are the facts as I see them.

Mortimer 03-13-2008 10:33 PM

I have always said this:

He is OVERRATED....he is not the best player in the league....people down play the players he has had around him because they need to play him up....and ,of course, he loves that.

I don't like him ...I wish he wasn't here and I don't give a flying fucl< about what anyone thinks of it. I wish he was not here.I think a trade would bring a better team here.

It's basketball.....it's not civil defense.

Mortimer 03-13-2008 10:34 PM

You have yet to explain that despite missing a truck load of his complimetary players almost every game this year how the team's record is 37-23 when he plays?? That is not bad at all.

So do you really think they'd be a better team with Chirs Bosh, or Carmelo Anthony or Dwayne Wade instead of him??

Name the players you would trade him for straight up 1 for 1 deal just out of curiosity.

And you started this thread expecting no replies to the contrary?? Interesting. It would certainly seem to me you do give a flying fucl what people think about it or you would never talk about it. You are very interested in people knowing you have strong opinions contrary to the majority on this topic as you saw great need to start this thread with the same statements by all participiants as the last 15 times it evolved.

LeBron is OVERRATED...yes.

I still think this thread should now turn to someone very UNDERRATED...that would be...

Jhonny Peralta. I'm looking for big things in 2008!!

horseofcourse 03-13-2008 11:05 PM

We are taylor made for internet boards Avery!...LeBron is my favorite Cav and Peralta is my favorite Indian. It's sure fire entertainment each and every time!!

(I'm not sure why your dislike of Honny. He has always seemed to me to be one of the least self-absorbed people ever to walk on the planet. Has he ever even spoken words?? He would seem to be right up your alley! C'mon you had to tear up when he took Schillling deep for 3 runs in game 2 to turn the whole ALCS around for a good while til Beckett pitched again!!)

You will have to note the other players who also made up that 37-23...you will also have to note how many teams he could go to who would never be that good. The Cavs are not made up of junk players.

Believe me....I'd rather have James than that clown Anthony.

I wouldn't go after a superstar in a one for one...I would go after good team players who want to win and know how.

I wish he were better...he's a nice guy. I don't dislike him on that level. I'm just very frustrated they have a gold glove ss they stick at second base because of their fascination with Here'sJhonny. They Indians thinking on 2nd,3rd and ss is going to mess them up for several years...starting this year. The royally mess up 2nd by dumping Phillips and continue to mess up by trading a good 3rd baseman for a 2nd baseman who should be at 2nd ,but will be in the minors and they are going to stick that stiff Marte on the team because they invested too much and can't afford to cut him loose...but they should. They're just dumb.

Crazy.
